I just needed to get you in the door... You should know there's math in this thread. I hate math, but it's the reason most people suck with Adsense. Not because they can't do math, but they don't do math. So here's the scenario Your website gets 100 visitors/day, you have a 5% CTR, and you average $1/clilck. So, every visitor to your site is worth$.05 We all want to make more money, and 99% of people think well to make more money I need more traffic. Right? Well sure that's right, but it's not the only way. In fact, there's a much better way. Maximize the conversion of your current traffic Let me ask you this. Do you put as much time and effort into maximizing your CTR as you do your SEO? Be honest... I'd bet all the money in my wallet 99.9% of you said no. The .1% are the guys making to much money to read this thread... Some more math Let's say you work your butt off, and I mean really work. And you bump up that CTR from 5% to 8%. Guess what. Now every visitor to your site is worth $.08 instead of $.05. So your profit just increased 38% and your traffic stayed the same. But wait, there's more... Do you know what that means? It means that when all that SEO stuff starts working, and you do start getting traffic, you'll make 38% more off of every new visitor than you would have otherwise. So the next time you spend an hour building links, ask yourself what would happen if you spent an hour truly focused on maximizing your conversion We talk about SEO so much in this forum. I rarely see good discussion about how maximize CTR. It's no wonder so many people struggle (and so much money is made selling SEO services)... |

Your figures are off you say your CPC is $1 and then you assume that you get $1 for each click when in fact google of course doesnt pay you 100% of the CPC does it? Unless I missed the memo on that one it is something like 58%. |

Even if his numbers are off the point is that a small percentage point higher in conversion is exponentially greater than trying to get more traffic.

These "You suck at" thread titles were annoying the first day people started repeating them in the forum, which was a long time ago. Packerfan: If you can't come up with a relevant title that gets people interested in the subject you want to talk about, perhaps what you have to say isn't interesting or important. You suck at titling threads. |

The other threads quite a good one. I do agree with outwest on the fact that his point is quite valid. I've always thought the idea of building 300 websites to earn $1.00 a day each example is a stupid one. Your better aiming for 30 websites making $10.00 a day or more to start off with. |

I'm still building those sites slowly but surely, but I've started focusing on making bigger sites. Just so much easier to manage for me. I think the advantage of the micro site is for very little investment you can test if a niche is profitable. Then build out the good ones.

![]() On another note... The best headlines of all time are all just ripoffs. Obviously my title isn't in a top 5, but like you said. You did look!

I agree with the point that packerfan is making, but I think many people run into problems with actually trying to accomplish it. I would argue that the reason most people spend their time on SEO is because they probably don't know where to begin increasing the CTR, and I'm sure many think that the CTR is what it is, and can't be helped. SEO on the other hand is something that many people feel fairly comfortable with, and can spend endless hours on. So maybe we should start talking about ways to help that CTR, and people might start spending more time on it. I know I'm open for any ideas that people want to throw out there. |

It doesn't matter that someone keeps recycling the same stuff over and over again, at least it shoots the topic and the subject up and draws some attention and that's what these forums are all about. Everyone prefers rather reading a 1,000 times recycled topic, rather than an year old thread. .) Cheers, George

I guess, here goes the fee first, fancy sig later after that, I'll have to wait then... .)

Thank you Paul for the amazing content as usual. But how can we increase CTR? Can you post something about that Paul? Cheers, Ahmed |

I agree. The first thing I do is change the layout. I've had some sites go from 3% to 7-10% just by the layout/color changes. Other sites I completely changed the look like the panels, headers, etc. It's a lot easier to change the ad layout then to double your traffic.
