Default .com.uk and .com

hey guys can someone please help me with these few questions?

I am wondering, domain extensions with .com.us .com.uk or .com
how different do they rank?
do they rank by country?
I mean the .us would rank in US but not other countries...
and .uk ETC ETC?

Regards,

Shahmel

If you get into positioning, it will not really matter for search engines.

In must of the cases .com is better then com.us
if your site target uk traffic so .com.uk is mybe better. if your site is more target to us and canada, for example, it's better you buy a domain .com

When it comes to seo, it doesn't really matter. But .com looks more universal

.com is very much more universal than the other domain with the country code extension.

Shahmel,

The domains can rank in any country, but the advantages lie if you choose a domain suffix to suit your target market. So, if you're targeting UK consumers you wouldn't want to use a .com.us and vice versa.

A .com is global, but if your target market was say Singapore, then you'd be better off using a .sg and also hosting the domain in Singapore ... and notify Google in Webmaster Tools that your site is targeting Singapore, it is especially good to do this if you have say a .com but your market is just a particular country.

If you wish to be number one on Google in a particular country, there is evidence to show that you should go for the most powerful domain name extension in that country and even host your site in that country. For example, in France, it would be the .fr domain name extension and in the UK it would be .co.uk and so on. If you can’t get that, then a .com would be the next best thing. If you are in the USA, go for a .com, .org or .net extension when available.

This is not required to be number one in your country, but it seems to give you a boost thus saving yourself a lot of link building. Good content, basic on site and off site optimization can overcome almost any domain name extension. Buying a domain name with the with your exact keyword phrase can help a lot too.

I believe the most powerful domain name extension for global dominance is the .com.

There's no such thing like .com.uk. It is .co.uk .
And actually yes - they rank different, but its about the user intelligence.

if you are targeting only UK, then go with .co.uk because who are looking to buy online, will still only buy from .co.uk as they feel they have more "security" from buying UK.

Extension is very important for SERP. Google check extension and IP of the website for the time of ranking.

According to my opinion that is not a fact for page rank but .com is good for universal and its domain name looks nice.
