Default My first IM idea please pick holes it (Noob)

So i'm new to all this and i had an idea last night, it seems like it should work in theory, but ive never done this before so I could be wrong.

Basically I found a combination of words in google keywords that gets 1.5 billion searches on google a month, the sentence it forms is not a correct sentence but it still makes sense. So I googled that combination of words and nothing came up on a google search, the main domain names are already taken but not in use, the .net is still available, so i'm thinking if i got the domain name for those keywords and made the site SEO optimised to those words then my site would come up number 1 on the google search and if i had a catchy enough page title it would coax people in to the link and if i had something for sale on it, even if only 1% of the 1.5 billion people clicked my page and only 1% of those who entered bought the product and i was only making 0.1c per sale, that would be $150 but of course i could change the blog and experiment and see if i can change the product im selling and try for $10 a sale or what ever

Seems to make perfect sense to me, or am i completely wrong?

Go back in to google keyword search and changed the search from broad to exact its in the left side bar. That is the true searches monthly.
i would recommend giving something away and building a list.
Also to get ranked highly its all about the back links.

Just some quick tips to start off with

Its because the broad term will show the amount of all searches for any keyword which includes that keyword....

So for the keyword 'warrior forum' on broad term it would also include the search numbers for these keywords also:

'The Warrior Forum'
'Warrior forum war room'
'Warriors forums'
'Warriors forum'
'Warrior forum marketing'

Which in total (this is an example) would have 100k searches.

But when you change it to exact match it ONLY shows you the search numbers for the keyword you have entered so for the keyword 'Warrior Forum' and ONLY that.

Hope that helps

One of the most important things in IM is keyword research. This can make your job so much easier if you know how to do it. If you search the WSO's section you will find alot of great info on how to get your keywords.
Usually about ten bucks, but if you do this you will be way ahead of the pack.
And I would not try to rank a keyword with 1.5 million searches.

I found out a long time ago that it is better to pick keywords that come in the 300,000 to 500,000 range to rank, Especially if I can get an exact match domain name and only .com or .org. Some say .net but I'm showing a decrease in search rankings on my .nets so I'm not trying for that domain any longer.

dreamtunnel,

I know where you're coming from, having wasted far too much money on buying domains that looked promising but weren't, because I didn't fully understand how to interpret the results Google showed. This wasn't helped by the fact that Google was actually 'lying' about the numbers and had a big reshuffle which saw many marketers suddenly realising why the supposed 10,000 Exact searches a month was only 1,200 ... big difference!

The first lesson is to always doubt the figures Google gives and look further into them, if they seem unlikely they quite probably are. I had one set of figures from Google that seemed illogical to me, but I trusted them and bought a domain, only to find they were out by a factor of about 100

Spend some time, even some money, learning about Keyword Research, it is the bedrock of any business based on getting traffic from Google via either organic search or Adwords. It is easy to learn, involved but logical. Without having a real grasp of this you could waste many years and a lot of money pursuing the wrong targets.

You've already learned a valuable lesson, the difference between Broad and Exact results, Phrase falls somewhere in between and I find it useful to open up other ideas, but for final analysis always take Exact Search numbers as the bottom line and work up from there.
