I have an ecommerce website and I product that I sell. I'm opening up a wholesale website to service my retail customers and make it easier for them to order wholesale. My web admin copied over all the content from my regular ecommerce website with the same pages of how to use the products, about the products, about us etc. Is this duplicate content going to hurt my SEO for either site? Should I spin everything to uniqueness? I kind of want the copy to be the same since they'll be using it to sell my products on their own websites and I don't really want multiple copy out there for the same products, if that makes sense, but I don't want to hurt my site's rankings either. |

It would be better to use different content in the wholesale site for SEO but if you have a lot of products it might not be time efficient to change everything, actually you might have noticed that the same dedcriptions of products from big companies are all over the web with out any change at all. Additionally duplicate content will not hurt the rankings of your regular ecommerce website since it's there from the start but it will be difficult to rank the duplicate pages of the wholesale site. Anyway I would suggest you to use the same content for your products but to use unique content for the other pages (your "about us" page I understand that is difficult to be changed but you can just make a few changes and probably explain that is for wholesale orders)
