I'm trying to rank my AdSense sites higher in the SERPs. If I add more content to the pages that I'm trying to rank, will that help me rank higher? Have you done this and experienced a boost? Keep in mind that I'm not talking about putting the fresh content on new pages, but adding it to the pages that are already there and already have some backlinks.

More content isn't going to get you higher on the SERPS, but it will help you get more long tail traffic.

Like the previous poster said, more content will give your more "accidental" keywords to rank for which equals more long term traffic. If you add more quality relevant content it makes ranking easier, but alone it won't do a whole lot. I have been making my pages much longer lately because ive noticed, a lot of content combined with a powerful link building campaign can really lead to quick high rankings. I have seen longer content pages ranking almost twice as fast as shorter very narrowly targeted content pages. But once again just adding content with no link building campaign will probably lead to very very little results.
