Hi all, I want to clone a site of over 1000 pages to a different domain, and was wondering if it would take long to do manually, or if i need specialised software ? (I want to use universal search and replace after that to modify the site to a completely different subject, has anyone done this successfully ?) |

Tools/Export - you get a xml file you can then import using again Tools/Import. That xml file gets all your posts/pages. |

You can either export the MySQL database or XML file, then just do a search/replace in a text editor, and import the file in the new site. Or look at something like WordPress › Duplicator « WordPress Plugins |

I don't think anyone has done this successfully as you will lose any SEO benefits you gained to this point ... | |

Way I do it is firstly export the database as an sql file.. Secondly copy the entire wp-contents folder (this contains all your themes, plugins etc). Now all you have to do is upload wordpress to your new host..remembering to use your copied wp-contents folder instead of the default one..Setup the database, import the original sql file.. and away you go.. A complete clone of your original wordpress site..
