White hat of course! It's hard enough to rank niche sites long term with white-hat methods anymore let alone doing blackhat techniques.

Imho, it depends on the end result you're after.
BH in the mix may get you some fast rankings, but they'll be very short-lived. If you want longevity stick to WH all the way.
The answer in 2012 is quality, quality, and then some more quality

White hat. Used to be all about grey/black hat, but since my income dropped from $30k+p/m to just over $10k p/m after numerous pages dropped from page 1, I learnt the hard way that white hat's the way to go. Trust me on this one, that wasn't fun.
