Hey guys, First of all I would like to say I am not here to brag but simply to show what can be achieved if you put your mind to it. For a few months now I have been studying SEO and providing services for local businesses and decided to go out and sell it. Well this is my first week and already 2 sales which are being paid upfront for a 6 month period! It can be done Warriors so never give up hope on your goals and if you face rejection, dust yourself down and get back on that horse!! If anyone would like to chat about this feel free to PM me or even post in here and I will do my best to answer any questions that may arise. All the Best, Craigb182 |

Well done! Make sure to over-deliver to your clients. They'll appreciate it, you'll feel good about it, and you'd be more likely to have loyal, repeat clients. |

EASILY done... i've been there myself now the work begins. make SURE you work your butt off for the next 6 months for both clients, spend the money wisely and keep looking for work to keep your sales funnel topped up. money really isn't everything, and you have a real responsibility now to deliver the work, generate more work and keep on top of your finances. but well done |

Congrats. Hopefully you perform your services well, and they become permanent clients of yours. Looking at this from a monthly point of view, you're making roughly $400 per client. Correct? I have a question. How much time does it take you each month to fulfill your client's expectations? Essentially, can you effectively scale this business to accommodate a large number of businesses? If so, you're well on your way. |

Way to go! SEO must still be a thriving business for local clients. I suppose it's easier to pay someone than take the time to learn it and keep up maintenance every month. |

What I actually charge is £300 per month however if they are willing to pay upfront for a certain amount of time I offer a 10% discount. In terms of timing issues there is not a huge issue with this as I outsource some things as well as taking care of certain aspects myself. Therefore this can be scaled quite effectively I believe, yes.

![]() I have not actually made any ads yet. I have used the powers of social networking to my advantage as well as using some already exisitng connections and networks. However I am also selling this directly to companies that I have no previous contact simply by lightly analysing their online presence and informing them of the solutions and improvements I can make to their clientele base. I have also created a commission based referral scheme for anyone that wants to share in any success that my services experience in terms of client acquisition. In my opinion once you have got that first customer you don't need to worry as much about getting ads out as if you are good word of mouth will provide free exposure anyway. Also, you tend to find the potential customers who have been referred to you will always be much easier to close than someone you have arranged a meeting with yourself. Another thing I will say which I think is HUGELY important is that so many people tend to view offline and online marketing as entirely seperate entities. In some forms this holds ture however they are in essence exactly the same beast. You need to make them both work for each other no matter what field you decide to target. This way you are creating potential conversions from both sides of the spectrum.

| There's no reason you can't do it Mike!! I was sitting in exactly the same position as you a couple of months ago. Once you decide that you want to become serious in this game, motivation becomes a bit easier. I always like to think of what I would like to earn and split it down into segments in order to be able to attempt to achieve these goals. I find it helps focus a lot more on what needs to be accomplished.

Thank you for your kind words ![]() Well firstly I must say I have not read any ebooks on this topic. I have read an awful lot on warrior forum in regards to ideas on approaching this type of business. I have also added my own twist to things and tried different ways of accessing potential clients which does not involve a direct sales pitch. This is a very interesting route which I am looking to conecntrate upon quite extensively in the next stage. I was thinking of drawing up a guide of exactly what I did in order to generate interest in my services and how the clients were sold on the service. I am also happy to provide any advice you need via my Skype or any other social networking interface.

Congratulations on your success! Those first couple of real offline clients are just such a good feeling. Very motivating, too. It lets you know you've got what it takes to get clients and that people really DO want what you're offering. You then know you have a skill and knowledge you can use to support yourself for a long time to come if you want to.

Great job! Taking action is the single most important thing you can do. I bet if you crunch the numbers, you will find that way too many people on this forum simply don't take action. Well done. |

Congrats Craig! Its funny that we marketers really do take our lumps on the learning phase (which never ends) we are the ones who bought all the crappy products, learned from failure, figured out the tools to invest in and how the SEO game works. (as much as we can) But the great thing is the offline world can take advantage of all that and when we get paid upfront it makes it all worth while. Also checked out your CPA blog....if you are going to go blog might as well have an opt in freebie to list build. Its like a cash ATM if you do it properly. |

Congrats on your success Craig, really inspiring. I love the fact you managed to get big upfront payments for 6 months work. I've never thought of trying that, opting for the rolling month deals. Do you mind if I ask what industries those clients are in? Reason being, I do a lot of cold-calling and am getting a bit burnt out of going after small tradesmen type businesses like electricians, plumbers, landscapers and so on. There's only so much I can charge for a simple website and the big residuals just aren't there. Well, with one notable exception I lucked out on last year where someone I thought was a local "sparky" actually does high-end home automation installs all over the UK and paid £3k for a web design and £300/month optimization. I need to step up my game and start going after some bigger fish very soon but I'm not sure which industries to go after. Any suggestions? |

Of course, no problem. One is in the restaurant trade and the other is in the construction trade. In my opinion you should try and go for businesses with high profit margins in competitive industries. The main hurdle is convincing these potential clients in the importance of seo and search engine rankings. If you want my advice I would strongly urge leaving the jargon at the door when you walk in and simply talk figures and results. In other words tell them you will get them more customers and this will get them more profits at a much lesser expense than traditional forms of advertising. Not only this but online promotion also gives them unlimited potential if they are involved in businesses who could profit from tourists and so on. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the share Craig, I would like to add a little from my own experience about not giving up and things like that. There's a book that had an immerse effect on my overall thinking and fighting doubt, fear and frustration. The book is called Think and Grow Rich, it was written by Napoleon Hill in the 1930s during the Great Depression (it was a great time for such a book, as many people were desperately seeking help and hope of any kind). It's of the best-sellers of all time, but that's not what I like about the book in particular. It's written in a way that changed my approach to life. Anytime I catch myself thinking negatively, I simply stop what I'm doing at the moment, take a 5- or 10-minute break or take a nap and start over. Don't let the man get you down. Stay strong, keep your head up and most importantly, stay true to who you are! ![]() - Trev |

It's those that have the cahunas to go out there and get the clients that will prosper - as long as you know your stuff, honour your commitments and achieve what you sell them. Good job and good luck.

I'm not trying to be negative, but you do realize that $5k is for 6 months of service (from what you said in OP). That's $13.89 per day, per client (average), not counting anything you'll need to purchase/out-source. Can you provide the SEO services & still turn a profit? How tough are the keywords?

For the first two customers, the keywords are pretty easy to take on as the competition is low to medium for the main ones we are targeting however I do explain to any clients that if the keywords are competitive it will take more time but will be worth it in the long run.
