I am trying to move up in the SERP for a link (http://mydomain.com/link) on my site, but (http://mydomain.com/) doesn't have a lot of backlinks by itself, does it matter? my domain is a PR3 and has over 300 pages indexed with about 35 backlinks according to ahrefs.com

It does, cuz the higher PR your page is then the more 'quality' your site is. So if you put a link on a PR 0 site it would be as good as a PR 5.

Its OK to do that thing.. but don't forget to build links for your homepage or let me say 5 links a day to your homepage and the others would be on your sub-pages.

You only really need to back link the actual page you are trying to rank. That said, it is also a good idea to back link to your homepage as the link juice will flow through to the end page through internal linking. |
