I've been playing around with PPC and I've noticed on some ads in the top ad people are able to change what is displayed in the top ad after the - or | In all my ads it just shows the url. Does anyone know how to put what you want there? I attached a picture highlighting what I'm talking about if it's not clear. Thanks in advance |

Hi Predator6sic6, It is all based on the length of the headline and the description lines. If you edit an ad in AdWords web interface you will see how changing your text effects the top ad. It may not show you exactly what you want, but it will let you see the things that effect the display and with some experimentation you should be able to get what you are looking for. |

Isn't that taken from your home page description? Look at the Greenway Dental Care - Your Riverside Dentist - Dr. Kurt J. Greenway example? |

I believe the OP was clearly asking about AdWords ads not organic listings. | |

Thanks for the replies. dburk - I get that, it looks like it's just taking the description line 1 and putting it after the - in the headline. I don't get how to make it do that, when I see my ads it's just putting my url in that space. Edit: Yes just to be clear I'm talking about the sponsored adwords listings not the organic section |

Not sure if this is relevant to what you mean but you can use dynamic Adword titles using this string, that way your title will be based on what the end-user types in as search phrase, when the phrase is too long it will use the alternate headline that you define: {keyword:alternate headline} |

Hi Predator6sic6, The overall structure of the ad layout is controlled by Google. They are constantly testing different layouts and the advertiser has no control over which layout they choose for their SERP. That is strictly Google controlled at this point. They do have some new features like ad extensions that give you some control of extra information in your ads. |

I agree that google is constantly testing and tweaking adwords and the advertiser has no control over the layout. Apparently to get this style of ad I think you need to be in the top 3 above the serps and to combine the headline and description 1 it has to gramatically make sense.

Hi there, Google places your 1st description line next to your heading, generally when the following criteria is met: 1) your ad is ranked in the yellow box at the top of the search results, rather than on the right hand side (achieve this with a high keyword bid and good quality score). 2) your description line ends with a sentence ender, such as . ! ? etc. etc. |
