Change Theme or Not

HI Warriors.

I am in a bit of a dilemma, and I hope some of you could give me some guidance. I have a wp site that I set up about 18 month ago for a specific phisical product. I didn't do muc with it until about a 8 month ago when I noticed that I have more and more people going to the site from big G.

So I put up some affiliate links, and the site sells about 1-3 of these products each day, with an overall commission of around $10-15 so nothing earth shatterring.

The way i set the site up originally is so tha tall the post are on the main page in their entirity. So I am guessing G thinks that lots of content on main page is Good. However otherwise the site could be improved dramatically, (now that I am a bit better in a few things) which could be of course beneficial.

In order to do that I would like to rehoul the who site by

1, changing the theme
2, getting the existing conent off the main page, (or at least not have all posts on 1 page)

So how would you go about it? I am certain it will affect ranking but how drastic will the affect be?
