SEO - Rank 1 of Google - 99.9% Link building

Hi Guys,

SEO has intrigued me for a long time now, but i have never really had the guts to really get into it.

I am aware there is On-Page SEO and Off-page SEO, but i dont really undertsand what these actually mean.

From what i have seen the majority of SEO and getting your site to rank 1 is Link-Building. Can someone confirm this for me?

How can i perform my own SEO? How can i get my websites to rank 1 for certain keywords?

Uptil now i have spent a fortune outsourcing SEO work to get my rank 1's or first page of google. I want to be abele to do this myself now!

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Well, I've found outsourcing to be a better option and would definately outsource as much as I can when it comes to SEO.
Basically the main thing about SEO includes;

On page SEO: Proper optimization of your content with your desired keyword you want to rank for.

Off page SEO: Building backlinks from various sources using your keyword as your anchor text. (Via Article writing and distribution, blog commenting etc)

On-Page seo: This is something you do on your site. So if you have a site about "learn cooking" then you will optimize your site for that word so google knows your site is about "learn cooking" and not about dogs

Off-Page seo: This is what you do outside of your site. Yes backlinks is what is off page is about.

Check out videos, articles and you will get better understanding on how seo works also if you are just starting then you can outsource the backlinking part.

i think for now i will stick to outsourcing my SEO work, but i am going to take a look into it over the next few weeks and keep myself updated using these forums. It seems simple enough!

Yes ranking sites is 99.9% link building. You can rank a picture of your face for "car insurance" if you do proper link building.

Just spent a little time doing On-Page SEO.. FOCUS on link building because that is the only way that your site will have a good ranking on SERPs

to be honest, I prefer to outsource my seo tasks so far ... if you can pick the right product, you'll be getting decent result. I dont like doing seo myself, and now even I'm considering to buy SEO tool to automate backlinking, I think I still prefer outsourcing it at an affordable price

It comes down to 2 things. On page and off page SEO. Off page is link building which you seem to know about, but on-page is also important as it is setting up your site correctly.

Just do a little research and you won't have too much trouble working out.

If you look at the search results for any keyword, you will often find sites with a lower PageRank outranking sites with a high PageRank. Google delivers rankings based upon what it feels is the best answer to a search query.

Off page SEO takes equal parts: know how and automation software. If you have the right tools and the knowledge, you can rank most keywords. The higher competition keywords will require really deep pockets, because trying to beat long established websites or those with around the clock SEO work being conducted will require all of the fire power you can muster.

Yes i thought that might be the case, would it not be better though to rank for multiple low comeptition keywords than 1 high competition keyword?

yes i am sure i have read this somewhere else aswell. Google only ranks you on Relevant backlinks and it also takes into account the number of external links going away from your site aswell.

I've been doing SEO for the past 2 years now. The thing that I noticed, if you want to rank high, provide quality content that people desire and want to share. Also, optimize your on-page SEO. Link building effects 80% of your rankings, but make sure you diversify your backlink campaign.

Just wondering, if you write some good content, and someone shares it on say... Facebook. Does that count as a backlink? Or does it have any relevence at all to your ranking in Google?

How many backlinks do you think people would need to build to rank number 1 on google? Obviously it depends on the keyword, i have just outsourced SEO work to rank me on the first page of google for the keyword "Buy Facebook Likes" and i am wondering how much work it would actually require to rank for terms like these, especially seen as i had to empty my pcokets out a bit!

I thought On-page SEO should be sorted out before off-page. But whilst outsourcing to increase my pagerank the company i used said there would be no need for any On-Page SEO.

Yes, that's what I am saying, build the site first ( on page SEO ). Once your site is built and all on page SEO is completed, then launch the site with a high quality back linking campaign.

You don't want Google to index your site before you have completed all your on page SEO.

On-page SEO is critical because it makes your off page stuff work better. It's as simple as that.

You can dominate niches with proper on-page SEO and a lot of content that is properly linked internally. Then when you're building your links, you can actually do it in a strategic way that works how you want it to work.

Do links matter, yes, a lot. But if you want to make your WAY easier, nail the on-page stuff (it's much easier than the link building part).

Hi everyone, I understand anchor text is important, but I have read to not over-do the anchor text too much. In other words if you have 1000 backlinks to a page, you don't want the anchor text to be the same for every single backlink. The majority you still want to be the anchor text as your keyword, just not 100% the same. Got to mix it up a little bit.

I really don't see the point of italicized, bold, underling keywords. I've ranked my sites without doing those, and besides it would just turn off the viewers/consumers that are reading my site.
