Hey, I have a website that has 2 url's ranking for 1 keyword. Example. EMD.com And EMD.com/keywordcat/keyword Both are ranked for the same keyword and ranking in 9 and 10 place... How can i fix this? Does this makes harder to rank the site top1 ? Thanks! |

If both page have similar content this problem occurs. Remove content from the page which is not so important. This can solve your problem.

If you are using the same anchor text to both pages this problem may arise. Also, if you have a backlink with your keyword anchor text from the homepage to the page that is also ranking, this will also give rise to double rankings (Search keyword cannibalization to learn more). That being said, a double listing is a good thing! You are getting much more traffic due to the extra placement and blocking a competitor from the first page of Google. |

You don't need to "fix" it... If you are able to get them to positions #1 and #2, that would be the ideal situation. However, if you cannot do this, it's possible it's so because you are diluting their chances of ranking at number 1 by optimizing those two pages for the same keyword. If so, you can merge the pages together to make it one page that will be easier to rank at number 1 position. |

I agree with everyone who said that this is a good thing. It really is!!! It means that Google is telling searchers that your site has excellent content for their search query. Don't change a thing! Just try to get more backlinks and you should move up in the results.

Your SEO efforts should be made only at one url. So, check the content of both the pages, and take a decision which page is more relevant to your targeted keyword. And then do off page SEO only for that page.

LOL at trying to "fix" this. How about just go rank 1&2 and dominate that keyword. What is wrong with you people? |

I have a number of joint #1 and #2 rankings from the same site, provided the content is good and that both pages offer the reader value for that keyword then your golden and don't need to worry about manual reviews. If you can rank 2 URLs for a good keyword that brings you revenue, what's the problem exactly? :-) | |

Yeah I agree with having 2 spots on the 1st page is always better than one. I have a site with the keyword page in the top 5 and my main page ranks #11 so I decided to push the main page a lil to get it on page 1 also. Think about it, if your a searcher(lose the marketer mindset) and you see a site on something your looking for has more than one listing, especially #1 & #2 then the chances of clicking are pretty much guaranteed unless they were searching for something specific.
