Ok, I know this post is going to cause controversy and varied opinions, but just know that I do not put all my eggs in one basket, and simply see BMR as a powerful tool. After reading a bunch of negative comments on Build My Rank, and reading how some warriors are paranoid and scared to use them because they're becoming popular (similar to how Linkvana was before they went down hill), I decided I would do some research to see how spammy their sites are becoming. As we all know, they do not accept duplicate or spun content and have humans reviewing all submitted articles. This is good, but it doesn't mean their sites are SPAM free / are not spammy. So what I decided to do was investigate how many links they're posting on the homepages of their blogs at any given time (by searching for the text I included in the 10 free posts I got with my trial and navigating to their homepage). On all the sites that had a PR between 2-4 they had no more than 20 posts/blog entries on the homepage. Further, not everyone who submitted their posts had a backlink in the first 100 words (or whatever cutoff they use), so just because a post was on the homepage did not mean the overall OBL count went up. (note to everyone: include a link in your FIRST 100 words!) In only one instance did I see a homepage with 30 posts and therefore 30 potential OBLs. This was a PR1 blog. On top of all this, they list dozens of general categories to make their blogs look like they cover tons of topics, and I did not see ONE blogroll link on any of the sites ![]() This in no way means BMR is 100% safe and does not carry any risk. But being the paranoid individual I am, I must say I felt a little bit better about using BMR after doing this tiny bit of research. Would love to hear your thoughts. |
