Default How much traffic should I be getting?

I know that is a vague question, but honestly lost in the world of SEO, I have read a few books and have been reading the FAQs here on the site (which is why I have not been posting) So, I have details about my site

My domain is almost 2 and a half years old.
I have very little in terms of back links and social bookmarking.
My keywords that I am trying to rank for are not even showing me as ranking through SEObooster rank checker. (how to invest, investor, penny stocks)

I am currently getting 260 unique views and 1200 visits according to my Awstats.

I have never tried an SEO campaign. Do you think it would help? If so, how much would you guess it would cost to rank on the first page for "how to invest"?

Any help or verbal lashing is welcome (so long as the lashing is creative and educational)

Investor Savant, Teaching others how to invest.

Well, I guess the easy answer is that if you are not doing any type of seo, not ranking for any of your targeted search terms, etc., then you are probably lucky to be getting the traffic that you are getting.

Unfortunately, if your website isn't visible to searchers than you aren't going to get them. Of course there is the exception of extremely long tailed traffic, which is probably what you are getting now. But in general, for people to visit your website they have to be able to find you.

An seo campaign would definitely help, it helps any website. However, the search term you are interested in is fairly competitive, not the most competitive I have seen but probably not a good starting point for someone new to seo, if you are. I really have no idea how much it would cost to outsource this to an seo company, as I never hire others to do this work. Your best bet would be to look around here in the Warrior for Hire section and ask a few service providers what they would charge to do the job.

Btw, here is a quick view at the competition stats for "how to invest" to give you an idea of what you are up against:
