Default Using Amazon To Target A Keyword

Hey fellow warriors.

I apologize if there is already a thread on this topic but I could not find it.

This is an SEO question specifically relating to ranking through Amazon. In my niche there are 3 quite competitive keywords that have huge exact phrase volume. I am creating a strategy to target the keywords and wanted to know if using Amazon would be an effective vehicle for this.

For example I could write a 30-50 page kindle book on each of keywords and have them published on Amazon with the title of the book being the keyword that I am targeting. In the book I can link back to my money site and also in the description on Amazon I can mention my money site.

So basically I am just piggy-backing on Amazon's authority to rank for these keywords. Has anybody used such a strategy, and would such a strategy be effective?

Also do kindle books have the same authority in Google as regular hard-backs?

Thanks guys!
