How can a newbie IM get traffic to a website promoting amazon products?

It is an amazon based site that has been up for about 3 weeks and is already in the top million on alexa.

I don't see your signature here. But in this case, there are tons of free methods that you can get traffic to your Amazon products. For me, high quality article marketing and videos work better.

There are only two ways to get traffic:

1. Paid Traffic
2. Free Traffic

There are lots of ways to get free traffic but it takes a little bit longer.
I highly recommend creating a free facebook fanpage to drive traffic to your website for free traffic.

For paid traffic, I recommend ezine solo ads. They deliver traffic to a list of people in your niche and you do not need to worry about having your own list to start with.

That's the thousand dollar question. If only we knew the answer to that question we would all be rich. It's true there are many different ways to get traffic to your website but what I have learned over time is that it's not the amount of traffic you get it's the quality of the traffic

I would suggest to go for SEO and try to get rank on Goolge for some long tail keywords first then go for other keywords. But it really takes some time, you have to keep on working on SEO to do so. But the traffic that you will get is huge specially from Google compare to other methods.
