Hey Warrz! Today I found that my index page(root domain) is not ranking as good as some of my inner pages. The root domain has much more backlinks than the inner page, more content, more images (at all, on and off factors throw the root domain up in google, not the inner pages). Keywords are almost similar, but the inner page that Im talking about has more searches and stronger competition. Any ideas? |

Maybe you have targeted the inner pages with your backlinks.

Every page is individual page, inner page can have higher PR than homepage, just because you have some high PR do follow back lines point to your inner page

There are certain things you need to check if inside pages are ranks well than index Page. 1) Index Page contains keyword repetitions? 2) Duplicate content? 3) Duplicate title tags? 4) Does Index pages getting less hits compared t Inner pages? 5) Bounce rate of Index page as compared to inner pages 6) Hits ratio of Index page and Inside Pages 7) Back links comparison of Index pages and Inside pages 8) Whether any spam links attached to Index page?? Thorough check of back links of Index page is required 9) Do your Index page is with more reciprocal links? Check all this conditions one by one, I know i will take some time and effort but after all if you need to find out the reason you have to go for it |

hi its not the big thing, if inner page rank high the overall ranking going to be high as well. so its not the thing you need to worry, just try to increase the home page ranking also, for better results in overall ranking. |

1) Index Page contains keyword repetitions? Contains the main keywords 12 times. 2) Duplicate content? The whole content is written by me, no duplicate content. (fine with Copyscape too) 3) Duplicate title tags? I'm not sure exactly what this means, but my main keyword is containing 2 times in the title (with extensions). 4) Does Index pages getting less hits compared t Inner pages? Still not ranking well in Google (position around #11), but index page has more hits than the inner pages, because of the direct traffic. 5) Bounce rate of Index page as compared to inner pages Both inner and index have Bounce Rate of around 50% 7) Back links comparison of Index pages and Inside pages Index page have more backlinks. 8) Whether any spam links attached to Index page?? Thorough check of back links of Index page is required There seems to be no spam links. 9) Do your Index page is with more reciprocal links? No such links. |

If your website has not been online for a long time, that could be one reason because although it may sound a bit strange but user behavior has become more important than before and if some of your internal pages which are directly linked to from your homepage have been getting found because of their contents on Google by a lot of people, they could temporarily gain better values than your homepage, besides sometimes your contents could win one-way links. If some of your inner pages are doing great, that is excellent and you do not need to worry about anything. As said, it is possible that they have won some links from other blogs, just check your Google Webmaster Tools constantly and you may find those links which point at those internal pages. But do not worry because even top-ranking inner pages will ultimately have great impacts on your homepage status, raising its ranks, it could be just the matter of time. |

There is no point that only index page can have higher PR.. PR is individual element.. Google treat each page as single entity..
