Why is my sample page ranking higher than index page for keyword in SERPs?

I have a newly created site based on Optimizepress, and have done some linkbuilding campaigns on it. When I do a search for the keyword I have targeted, however, my site does not show on the first page. In fact, the category and sample page ranks higher than the actual index page. What is frustrating is that the URL includes the keyword I am targeting, but still does not show in the first page - and it is a low competition keyword.

To clarify: when searching "target key word" my site targetkeyword.com does not show in the SERPs, even though the keyword is the URL and I have run linkbuilding campaigns to promote the site w/the URL. Also, the site's /category and even /samplepage ranks higher than the actual index site.

Can anyone help here? The site is netpicksforexsystem.com, and the keyword is "netpicks forex system." What could be the issue here?

On a related note I am having the same problem on a Kajabi based site, if that factors into ranking as well?

Generally it takes 2-3 months for google to start ranking your website for keywords. Thats called domain maturity. I checked your website is only 2 months old and is promotional squeeze page kinda website. These website takes even more time to get ranked.
I suggest you to increase the link building effort to get your site ranked.

As you say, you are talking about a new site. If it's less than three months old I don't think you have much to worry about. Just keep going with your link building campaigns using the appropriate anchor text for your keyword and you will see positive changes soon enough.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys and girls. Do you know if there is any reason why when searching "netpicks forex system" that the category page is picked up on page 3, but the home page itself does not show?

I will be continuing link building and hope that the homepage starts to show on that first page.
