Forgive my ignorance, but aren't the PR of article directories just the PR of the directory itself? I mean, the pages were articles are indexed don't hold any page rank.... so you will not get a PR3 backlink by posting an article on a PR3 directory...

Yes mate u r right.. If u need individual Page PR3+ directories, u should post your article in the home page or you should purchase the directories.. Even ezine article don't have PR for all the pages..

Article submission might be good but recent article says google now doesn't care much about instant approval blogs/articles. My articles from other good directories weren't driving traffic like before. BTW..good work by you whitehat2 :-).

Lots of misunderstandings in this thread.

The page rank of an article directory's own home page doesn't help you much when you submit an article there: that isn't where your article's published. Websites don't "have page rank". Pages have page rank.

How do Article Directories work? (Hint: they don't work by trying to use them for their own backlinks!).

Contrary to what other people are telling you on this thread.... you are absolutely right my friend. Yes the individual pages don't have any good PR, so this is all futile work you are doing if you are submitting to such directories, especially after the panda update!

...you need other ways of getting high pagerank backlinks to your site!

Yep! I am using some these article directories for submitting articles and even some are famous article directories. like goarticles, articlebase, articlecube and some others. Few of the forum members have mention the article directories inner page dont have high page rank. That is true... but still these articles directories have good numbers of visitors all the time... Cheers...

You are wrong, I'm afraid - sorry.

First, there's no such thing as a "high PR article site"; nor indeed any other sort of "high PR site". As explained above, websites don't "have page rank". Pages have page rank. The page rank of an article directory's own home page (which is what you're actually thinking of when you mistakenly say "high PR article site") isn't much use to you, if your article isn't published on that page.

Secondly, working on that article to increase page rank is the absolute last thing you should ever do. Not only is it unproductive, but it can actually do positive damage to your own business, to do things that way. (You might even - as some people manage to - end up with a page on your own site that can't even outrank an article directory! Think how ironic that would be, after all Google's Panda updates have helped out the article marketing community so much by decimating the SEO power of the article directories, enabling us to use them for their original purpose without the worry that our customers can accidentally find them). The last thing you want is for your potential customers to find an article directory copy of your article rather than the one originally published and indexed on your own site. Nobody wants their potential customers going off from a search engine to an article directory: we all lose most of that traffic. This is what some people call the fallacy of the descending ceiling. It's explained here in about 100 threads. This post gives just one illustrative example.

Thirdly, the people for whom article directory copies of articles are submitted are publishers (of ezines) and webmasters (of sites in your niche). Supplying syndicable material to those people is the purpose for which article directories exist. Trying to use them for another, different purpose is turning down the path that leads to the hundreds of threads here with titles like "Article Marketing Doesn't Work" - that's what all the people who started those threads were doing, and that's why it didn't work for them.

Fourthly, it makes absolutely no sense at all to be building backlinks to someone else's website, rather than to your own!

Respectfully, I suggest that you'll benefit enormously from a long, slow, careful read through post #2 of this thread: How do Article Directories work? (including clicking on all the links on it) - it may transform your understanding of what article marketing is, how to use article directories and possibly even how to earn money from them.

This one seems worth considering but with PR3 and Alexa Rank 38576. It has to take a long mileage yet. I will consider it for submission if I ever have to consider a new article directory. Thanks

Most of these sites are not going to approve your website if you don't put it in a right category and most importantly by not reading the submission guidelines.

The goal of using article directories are for syndicating your articles. Is that not right? As webmasters pick up your articles and place on their site(s), you begin getting traffic through them. I think another thing most people forget is that you will still get link juice from these article directories! So, the more article directories you post your articles too, the more chances your article will get syndicated.

No, you may not get the Page Rank of the website but part of your domain's own page rank is how many websites link to your website. You should aim to get backlinks from as many websites out there, related or not. A backlink is a backlink.
