Default Why Not Buy a Few HIGH PR Domains for Linking?

In researching my competitors backlinks I'm noticing more and more blog network sites. Virtually every link that's above a PR1 in the niche I'm researching is obviously a homepage blog network link someone is paying for. Now I'm very familiar with blog networks and will be using BMR and ALN soon, but why not buy a few PR4-6 domains and use them for the sole purpose of linking to your own content??

You could put unique content on there AND minimize the number of OBLs, passing on more link juice to your money sites or layer 2 sites. You could host them on separate IPs to throw Google off too. A little more work than a private blog network, but much more effective IMO. With PR4 sites going for as little as $30-40, this seems too easy. Am I missing something here??

I can give you a huge reason not to buy the domains .....you will not be able to maintain the high PR and you will loose the sites importance and also a great amount of money.

A way to promote a blog is to submit blog to BlogsAvenue.Com and another site for blog submission is BlogrollCenter.Com.

Was just reading on another blog how switching owners can result in the PR dropping to 0. I know there are ways to maintain PR, but why is it so complicated?

Not necessarily true. Plenty of domains are able to keep their PR. You may lose a few links, but if most of them are pointing to the domain itself - and not the inner pages - you should be fine. You can also use a site like archive.org to see if you can keep the site structure the same. (Or at least close.)

You'll also want to make sure the PR is real before buying. There's a couple of "fake PR" checkers floating around if you do a Google search. Scrapebox has a pretty good one built in. But it's a paid tool.

There are many website owners that were buying high PR links but they were not sure if it will be permanent.

The only thing you are missing is that legit PR 4 sites do not go for $30-40 unless you get EXTREMELY lucky. They are more in the $100 range.

Other than that, yeah having your own network of sites can be a huge SEO benefit. Combine that with a private link network like BMR, and you can get some pretty good links.

Some people don't opt for that route because of the effort involved, but it's likely much more cost-effective for the people that do it right.
