Hi guys, very strange. Have just checked on a small bunch of websites I have and they have all just dropped to PR N/A and the homepages have been deindexed from Google when I do the search site:domain.com HOWEVER, the inner pages are still there when I do the site:domain.com search ?? This would show that Google hasnt deindexed or cancelled the websites from the search, however the homepages are blocked ?? Any advice would be great here - I have been googling this all evening and Im coming up with more questions than answers. |

I've never seen or heard of this happening. I'm curious if anyone has had experience with this. I've had sites deindexed but I never tried site:site.com/innerpage. I wonder if this actually happens pretty often...

You never know it could be one of Google's weird processes, it could even be ranking your homepage. I would give it 24 hours then panic if it isn't resolved

did you find a way of speeding up the process. Did you add a robots.txt file?? Searching Google like mad here but all I seem to get is questions and no answers. Has anyone else had any experience here - is this a penalization by Google??

First step is to look in Google webmaster tools. This can often tell you why you have been de-indexed.

Don't whine about it. As long as your other pages are still there, you will get your homepage back to SERP. And you must not get worry about it because users will not look for your homepage surely if they are looking for something. Right? So just wait. As I've said a while ago, as long as your pages are still indexed, your homepage will get back on it's feet IMO. |

Check GWMT. This can happen because your hosts DNS is not configured properly (you would be surprised at the big name hosts that this happens to regularly). Usually when I see this behaviour happen it is due to some networking issue.

Were you selling links? Did you interlink all of your sites? Chances are its a penalty and you've been deindexed for some type of link scheme. I've seen this before. Your internal pages weren't affected since they likely don't have any PR and weren't linking to eachother like your homepages were. |

| Also, what types of links have you built in the past for these sites and is this "small bunch" of sites that you have all on the same IP? Are these datafeed sites? Your site IS NOT deindexed as it's still ranking for deep pages. Consider it "in the penalty box" for the time being. Are any of the sites ranking for its own name? (when spelled out with spaces) If so, what's the ranking URL? 10 Factors To Be Considered: 1) Thin content on your homepage. 2) Thin content (in general) relative to your niche and competition. 3) A large percent of above the fold content might be images, links to internal pages, affiliate links, or ads. Not good. 4) Running pop-unders or pop-overs to build a list? Disable that stuff. 5) Do you have "rel=canonical" features enabled? Try disabling that. 6) Add, change, or vary your homepage content. Immediately! 7) Add (or scheduled) new content regularly to continue building the index of the site out. 8) Remove or cloak any affiliate links you may be running on your site, especially your home page. If your site is in Wordpress, use Pretty Links. 9) How many OBL's are you running on your home page? Try reducing that number if possible. 10) Are these site interlinked? Are they blogroll, footer, or sitewide type links? If so, remove them. Remember, the sites are not de-indexed. A few things just need to be updated and changed so they will continue to run strong long term. You won’t last long if the intent to monetize is too aggressive and the content is thin. Good luck! |

Double check your header info! Check for 'nofollow, noindex'. A template might have been changed or something. Happened to me once and this is extactly what happened.

Does the below code have to do with anything? I fetched my site as a Google bot from a site and found this: Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0 |

Instead of doing site:domain.com, try info:yourdomain in Google. If it show your homepage then it means your site is not deindexed.

If your robots tag says nodollow, noindex then that needs changing as that would cause the problem you describe. Also the same for a Google tag etc. They should read 'follow, index'. You would then wait for Google to crawl your homepage again. Then it would re-appear with no loss to rankings. |

ermmm, would you mind removing my URL from your post? wouldn't want anyone to see it! Thank you for thatMay I know how is AdWords relevant? I went to Fiverr and bought - a 1200 + 2500 of article submissions (not sure how many were indexed) - one web2.0 linkwheel Most of my site backlinks BEFORE these are via BMR NOTE: I had a wordpress plugin called "Easy No Index No Follow" which i deleted as it was leaving either a noindex or nofollow tag on my viewsource. Do you think that was it? I have already removed it and can't remember what it looked it. I remember it was near a word "Meta", and near it was a "link is broken. link is broken"... i got a little scared and deleted the plugin.

Removed your site URL from post. BMR...ahh BMR sites facing tough time from last week. You can see a lot of people complaining lower rankings for their sites using BMR. Your might be the one. I checked your Robots.txt and there is nothing special which can stop search engine crawler to not to index it. Thanks Quote:

| Not sure if the below is the main reason why my Homepage was de-indexed by Google and sunk beyond Top500 by Bing... Do you think my plugin "Easy Noindex and Nofollow" might have caused this? I have 2 websites that use this plugin.. but for the site in question, it seems to have "leaked" some code into my <Header>.. Do you think this was the problem? I've removed it already Code: </style>
