I remember reading some WSO's before that blasting backlinks to a YouTube video helps that video rank high. Would this still be effective post Panda? Would blasting a lot of backlinks to target pages in authority domains (e.g. YouTube, Amazon, WordPress, BlogSpot, Tumblr, etc) be effective to push that page up in rankings, or would that page (though it be on an authority domain, even one that Google owns, e.g. YouTube) be sandboxed / banned / ignored? Plus what if one were to add a blast of Google+'s and Facebook Likes to such a page (e.g. a YouTube video I want to rank no. 1 for the phrase "dog training tips"). IF this could work, then it would open up a lot of opportunity for Kindle authors with SEO-savvy to push their books up in rankings on Google in the target market they choose. |

From my personal experience blasting YouTube videos with DoFollow Scrapebox links works. Obviously you're taking a risk by doing this, but it does seem to work. Over the past couple of weeks I've been sending a few hundred dofollow links each day to a number of different videos and most have been rising pretty fast. One went from the bottom of page 4 to #3 on page 1 within a week. Another went from page 8 to the top of page 2 in a little over a week. (Keyword gets just under 15,000 exact searches a month according to the Google Keyword Tool.) So I'm hoping it keeps going. Note, these are all dofollow links. It's a little experiment I've been running in my spare time. |

Interesting. I don't use a ton of video right now (although that's changing). Might have to give it a shot and see what happens.

I'm trying to add a lot of vids on YT so I can bring in more traffic to my sites. The backlinks from them should help - I'm thinking...

BTW, using the method in your sig I found about 20 keywords that I'll be making new videos for. If you recall, in the Market Samurai thread, you had asked if I use a similar method. I do, but you definitely took it a step further. Great tutorial. Anyone who hasn't opted in should do so. | |

No prob. A couple of other videos have been rising over the past 2 days. I think "blasts" can still have an effect. But I think the days of throwing hundreds of thousands of links from spammed-to-death pages and watching your ranking sky-rocket are gone. You've got to be more selective. It seems like the dofollow links are having a pretty strong effect. Plus, YouTube is an authority and can handle a sudden surge of backlinks. I'm still not a huge fan of pointing blasts directly at my sites, though. Always afraid of getting the slap. |

I'm working on something similar, uploading around 600-800 videos on youtube over 3 channels, with backlinks to various sites (around 12) to see what the effects are. Even if it does nothing have a publishing advertiser program on YouTube so I'll collect a small income with the videos.

That's kind of odd when a "backlink" to a youtube video is not the same as a regular "backlink." In fact, the link to the video can come in more than one form. One form is even a url forwarder created by google just for youtube. You are backlinking to a page, created on the fly, where the video can be shown. The video exists in cyberspace, unlike an image that can be viewed. You want to make backlinks to your youtube channel and embed the video on a page, and build backlinks to that page. Every comment on youtube you make, that gets approved, creates a link to your youtube channel. Authority of domain has nothing to do with subpages, subdomains, or anything else. Not sure what that statement even means. A blogspot blog gets no juice just because it's on blogspot. Paul |

If you are trying to rank a video thumbnail image in Google SERPs (not Youtube search), your better off to forget Youtube & host the video yourself. This will save the traffic one extra step/click to get to your own web page on your site. Traffic flow with Youtube involved: Quote:
