So if you register 10 domains about niches related to your personal interests, in a year or two you might go to these domains and start promoting them aggressively to search engines, however you would have the added advantage of having had a year or two in ‘aging’ that domain in the eyes of Google!
If you wait a year before doing any type of SEO to a website, IMO, you are wasting valuable time. I read this "aging" stuff on lots of websites but never really knew if it was true until now. I tested it with 3 websites. I was able to rank them and make sales in 30 days. Not one website but three brand new subdomains. I am on the 1st page of Google for 6 or 7 keywords and all 3 websites are only 80 days old.

I learned more about IM and SEO by doing then from reading what the so called "Gurus" say.

I also learned some really interesting facts about keyword competition...it totally shocked me! I'm ranking for some keywords that most people would think are impossible (allintitle - 75 million). I moved several seemingly "impossible" keywords from not found in Google to #25 in 60 days with only 52 links.

Thank you Alyona for the laughs.

And thanks to the seasoned IMers who exposed the so-called advice as the myths that there are. I know it can be frustrating confronting these wild, unfounded claims made by self-annointed gurus, but your presence really does help.

I don't want to think about the poor sucker who would wait a year or two to begin promoting their site through offline SEO.

Well, from my point of view, Age is one of 1000s factor which Google considers to order sites for a search. You can see there are lots of less age sites are ranking well on number 1 position where aged sites are not ranking well.

Keep in mind this method you're mentioning has to do with both domain age and site age. If you put something on a domain and leave it for a year or two, both the domain age and the site age have increased, which is probably why it works. A year or two old is only "aged" for a domain in the sense that it's beyond any sandboxing potential. Usually domain age isn't much of a benefit until 5+ years, which is part of why we focus on that age span when we sell aged domains.

Both domain age and site age are factors that Google looks at. How much they impact rankings is a continual debate.

MikeFriedman: I don't know about you but I am getting the impression that the OP is simply trying to raise awareness for her signature. Sorry OP, you have been wrong on many accounts so I fail to see purpose of this thread other than promote your signature.

Hello everyone,

you may have argued with me about the contents of what I posted in this post, also contrary to what many people are saying I did not do it to increase my post count, I would like to invite you over to this thread: (in this same forum)

http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-ppc-seo-discussion-forum/527330-google-patents.html#post5486078

where I will be dissecting how the Google search engine works, I will be referring to Google released Patents and articles written by Google founders/employees themselves.

I also invite other members of the warrior forum of course to contribute both to the discussion and also by providing links to patents / such articles which will definitely help us shed a light (once and for all) on how Google really decides which sites to rank high.

I think this will be a very interesting journey for us.

I think that the age of the website does play a role. My personal website, which I’ve little effort to build inbound links to, does fairly well on search terms. I think that this is because I’ve had it for at least three years.

The age of the domain is important but I think it is equally important to verify that the older domain you end up purchasing has a good reputation (e.g., it hasn’t been blacklisted, penalized or banned from the search engines).
