Many people underestimate the power of micro niches targeting a particular country. So if you are targeting a niche which is popular in a particular country you should buy a website with a country specific url.

If you are targeting the keyword “Snow proofing your home” and you are quite sure that the Canadians will be delivering enough traffic to your site, you should buy a country specific domain such as snowproofingyourhome.ca (notice the country specific .ca domain registration) and if you think that a niche such as “Pasta recipes” will be popular in Italy you should register a url such as pastarecipes.it

Google gives a lot of importance to the country specific url registration. Google provides country specific search results, so if I am searching for a particular keyword from Canada, I will not see what my counter part in the USA or any other country might see. So in Canada someone searching for ‘snow proofing your home’ might notice the website snowproofingyourhome.ca high on the search results lists, whilst if someone is searching for such a keyword from Mexico that url might not be seen anywhere.
