How low do you go for global monthly searches in Google when looking for a particular keyword in a niche?

Never. I always go for exact and see how many related keyword there are for that particular keyword. Global shows you really global results. And I also go for local exact monthly for US.

Global + Exact is useful. I normally look for 2000+ global searches. Too high is very hard to find. And I don't think it's worth the time and work for lower global search results.
