Arrow ********How MUCH Can you Get for One Website? *********

I have always found this confusing...as the majority of people say 10-12 times the amount it makes per month. But I see so many sites sold on flippa that are going for a lot less than than. I see websites that make $1000 per month selling for $2000....What is up with that?

Let's assume you have a website that is a pr2, 2 years old, has about 20 pages of content, good on page seo, ranked no 1-3 for buyer keywords; about 400 backlinks(60% pr 0;20% pr2:the rest pr1 or 3) in total and making $500 per month....How much could you sell it for?

Thanks in Advance!

Could be any number of things.

Remember that making $1000 per month isn't the same as $1000 profit. If you are spending $900 per month on paid traffic, then you are really only making around $100 p/m.

I meant 1000 profit per month...i find it a bit odd that someone would sell their site for 1k if it makes them that much a month anyway

Nobody would sell a site making $1k profit per month for $2k. I think that was probably $1k in sales that you saw, not profit

I have seen a lot of sites that sold for that sort of money .and they said it saw profit, not sales. That is why im confused. Why would someone be so stupid to sell a website for such a low price?

Because it might just be a one off monthly profit or the site is not established and is just new and has made $1K profit....and established site that has made $1k for a long period of time will not sell for only $2k or anywhere close...

Hi edthetester,

There are a number of reasons that a website could be worth as little as that. For example, let say the website earned a $1000 monthly profit, but requires the website operator to invest 200-300 hours of labor per month to achieve that level of profit. If you add in the cost of labor, then it isn't really making money, and a buyer is only purchasing the "potential" to make money.

There are other possible hidden cost issues, and there is also the occasional "stupid" person that simply cannot substantiate their profits.

Strange. Usually the sites I see selling on Flippa are selling for more than they are worth. I always viewed Flippa as a sellers market.

Th descent price for that site should be around 5000$ to 6000$ for sell. Anything more then this will be better.

Also you have to remember that some people will sell a money making site for an injection of cash to build another 3 or 4. It might seem strange to sell a site which is making 1000 per month for 2000, bit that's 2000 instant money which can then be invested into another 3 sites. If they have a system to get sites to rank and make money but don't have the capital to invest, then flippa is perfect answer to that problem.

I guess that makes sense. I see this happening a lot though, so that is why I was wondering:"What is wrong with this person?" lol

I never sell a site that requires low maintenance, but might think about doing it in the future due to the high lump of cash it brings.
