What do you think about forum signature links. Is proper or beneficial?
Are these type of linkbuilding methot is blackhat or whitehat SEO?

1. Better understand your niche's community
2. Get feedback and direction for your site
3. Drive traffic
4. Build a reputation (trust)

Forum signature links are effective few years back. It doesn't give great benefits unlike years ago. But it still gives in some instances, as long as you do it properly. Most of these links tend to be deleted by forum moderators if they notice that you have signature links on your profile but you didn't visit the forum after you put that links. Most forums delete inactive users that have signature links.

These links are whitehat if you're building them manually and correctly. But if you're using software like Xrumer, this might be blackhat.

To add to BenJacksons post, if you really participate in a forum community as an active member, you will get a lot of traffic directly from that forum to your website.

But if you just want to get good back links for ranking purposes there are better options to find.

Forum is an effective way to get dofollow links for startup. It will not increase on traffic but could give some page rank juice

Signature links are self promotional links and are easy to get. They are not the sorts of links that are editorially given, so are likely to be valued very low if at all by search engines anyway. forum signature links do not hold much value with regards to SEO and getting ranked in the search engines.

Well Signature Links are not to much effective as they was a few year ago! The main objective of participating in Forums is to keep in Touch with our Niche!

Forum signatures provide very little link juice. Almost all of them are nofollow links on pages that usually do not have external links pointing to them.

Great for driving traffic though.

Forum signature linking is a link building technique used to build back links to a website and a fast method to build up inbound links to a website.I think it is not a black hat.
