Hey guys ,

what strategies you use to get ctr of at least over 5% ?

I am acutally between 5-10% and i think there is always more potential i mean you can always try to double or triple your income. so imho it is worth testing.

but please suggest things, that are not against the ToS... i already know bh strategies that can easily get me 20% ctr... but i want legal things for the longterm way... so please no suggestions about using large rectangles directly under the title and over content or adding pictures directly over the ad.

The best way to get a good ctr is simple, pick a keyword that is hot. Sure ad position and your template play an important role in your ctr. However if you don't have a good keyword, your ctr will suffer. Another cool way to increase your ctr is your article. Your article should be very informative, it should make the reader want to further explore your topic (keyword), never place useless unreadable articles on your website! If you nail these two suggestions your ctr could reach 20% overnight!


As far as theme, I only use clickbump. I also only use one 250/250 ad, I place it directly over the content and I have a good ctr.

btw i have read that it is against the tos, placing ads over the content.

I would stop reading anything else that person writes (seriously).

It's not against the Adsense TOS to have Adsense above content.

I didn't read anything on that page that said not to have Adsense above content.

The problem isn't Adsense above content (that's legit). The problem is sites that have no content or very, very little content above the fold.

I know alot of people will tell you not to target KW's with a low search count. Unfortunately some of those KW's have the highest CPC rate. A good exercise is to have articles written for them and then place them in your menu as "Most Popular Articles" and listed at the top and bottom of your side bar widget if your content means people have to scroll down to read it.

I tried this on a site where I took 5 keywords and placed them in a most popular articles menu which was loosely related to the website it was on. Apart from the entry pages, these articles got the most hits and produced the most income. I since took them off and put them on a different site which is more closely related and it has boosted my CPC even though my CTR has not really increased all that much.

mine is 0.5% but i dont use CTR theme.. not my goal to make visitor click my ads anyway.. mine is an authority site which is pleasing to the eye and provide relevant information at the correct places.....

make about 20/day from adsense.. 2k a month from banner advertisers
