Default Google Panda - More Content - Less Pages - but if you have longtail domain - there is not much room

Can anyone help me rap my head around this?

Obviously there is a point where things can make sense, but when it comes to the new panda update you are suppossed to right more content on each page, and not have redundant pages.

For example.

You should right about all different kinds of weight loss on a page about weight loss?

or is it more limited to things like. dont right pages like
  1. how to lose weight
  2. weight loss
  3. best way to lose weight

however it would be ok to right about all of those on one page, and then have separate pages for different techniques to lose weight?

like
  1. working out to lose weight
  2. diet tips to lose weight
  3. walking more to lose weight
etc?

My specific problem relates to a manufacturer and model numbers and types

example:
Type of machine as a page
All manufacturers of that type of machine
All models from that manufacturers of that type of machine

all of those would be fair to have as separate pages I think - logically...

so is the idea to write more extensively on each of those subjects?

like on the last page, make sure to right about the other models, and the other types of machines made by that manufacturer, interlink them, etc? not interlink them and just write about them?

LOL thank you for reading. please help.
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU HAVE HERE.

Have a Wonderful Day!

Isnt it just looking for good quality, non spammy content? Not so obviously SEO'd content? Or am I wrong?

If you want lasting money on a website that continues a high search ranking, then make a quality site and work it. Devote so much time to it.

The Google Panda update is exactly what johan_malmo said

In previous years you could work out the algorithms and cheat them which meant spammy pages were hitting page one when they weren't at all relevant (black-hat methods). The Update is basically to rule this out.

SEO isn't hard write good content with relevant keywords and get good links from good sources, "authority sites," as long as content is relvant and not trying to trick google, or any other search engine

Hope This Helps

In my personal experience I've found that if your pages are at least 800 words, and preferably closer to 2000. The content is original and good quality with good on page SEO, then it's a lot easier to rank.

I currently have a new website I'm working on that is very similar to what you've described...

Main page leads to 3 pages which describe subcategories of a certain product. These pages then lead to review pages of products within that category. Every page has at least 1000 words and good on page SEO. I've found the pages on that site so much easier to rank in google than any of the others I've worked on in the past.

Again... this is all based on my personal experience. There could be a number of factors at play, but I don't think you can really go wrong with pages that have lots of good quality content.

Thanks for your reply guys. I get that the more content the better. So it seems that you guys agree with my idea of when you should start actually creating individual pages.

Is that right?

My view is that an article should ideally be cohesive. If you have enough quality material to write a cohesive article, then you should do it.

In my opinion, 5 pages website is fine, but has to have at least 800+ words on one page and relevant keywords in it. This way it ranks much better and faster. Like Ben said 1000 words articles and good on page SEO is the winner these days.
