On my product pages I have h1 tags for the titles. Would it help SEO If I used h2 and h3 tags as well? Would I use h3 for the product description?

H1, H2, H3 and H4, plus about ten thousand other things, so yes. You would use your h2 accordingly. I have never seen a difference where I put them as long as I have them. |

I would use just normal paragraphs for descriptions. H1 at the top of the page maybe for the title if no other h1 tags, then h2 for maybe a sub title then paragraph tags for description.

The longer answer. Yes, but be careful how you use them. You wan't to make sure you use the tags accordingly and when appropriate. Such as titles, sub-titles, and so forth. A good example of thinking outside the box is using them for product description, depending on how long your description is. | |

Header tags are definitely important for good SEO and should be used. You should use the H1 tag for the main heading of the page. You should then use your H2 tags for sub headings of the page, and if needed, your H3 tags as headings inside those sub headings. For example: Asus Laptop Reviews (h1) Asus P2567 Laptop Review (h2) This a review of the Asus P2567 bla blah blah. Asus P2567 Battery Life: (h3) The battery life of this Asus is good. Asus P2567 Specifications: (h3) 1200 x 50 x 60 Asus P2568 Laptop Review (h2) This a review of the Asus P2568 bla blah blah. Asus P2568 Battery Life: (h3) The battery life of this Asus is good. Asus P2568 Specifications: (h3) 1200 x 50 x 60 Asus P2569 Laptop Review (h2) This a review of the Asus P2569 bla blah blah. Asus P2569 Battery Life: (h3) The battery life of this Asus is good. Asus P2569 Specifications: (h3) 1200 x 50 x 60 |

I've never seen a difference in SEO rankings if I used h2 and h3 within a post as long as you use an h1 tag like Will said. But, I'm sure it couldn't hurt to add them.

I usually include them as part of my On-Page SEO. I use h1, h2 and h3 tags on all my pages. It certainly doesn't hurt your rankings so just do it.

Of course this helps, along with the H1 tag. This is one of the reasons that product review sites are ranking well on Google due to these tags.

The H1 tag is the most important of the six “H” tags in SEO strategy. If there is a semantic relationship between the page title, the H1 and H2 tags and the body text content, chances are that the robots will properly identify the main theme of the page and will give it a boost in search results related to that keyword.

| Yes adding H1, H2, H3 and H4 tags help with SEO as long as you are using your keyword in each of them. Make sure you use variations and not just the keyword by itself. Also try to keep your keyword density between 3-5%. So once you start adding keywords in the tags your % will go up alot so just be cautious of your density.
