Default google analytics or alternative?

Hello,

I'm after some advice. Nearly a year ago I purchased some advertising for my website. The time as come for renewal and after talking through it with the sales rep I told them I'd get back to them within the week.

The issue I have is they tell me 86 people clicked through from the ad in the month of December. I told them that my analytics only showed 7. A huge difference.

For the price 86 people in an off season month is acceptable but 7 is not therefore I would not renew. They told me that analytics is not very accurate and i should install a third party tracker to get a true reading which would obviously only be affective if I took another year and re-analised the results.

Is this true about google analytics or are they just spinning me a line to renew.

If it is true what external tracking utlilty do you recommend?

I use getclicky. Real time visitor statistics, tracks everything.

Shambles.

Hey there

I feel you man.

GA for one, is not real time tracking, and their stats are not accurate, that i will give it to them. BUT it is not that far off. And i think it wont show much difference.

Unless of cos there are some factors involved like are u checking the same stats.

1 simple example is you might be looking at page views and not unique visitors.
or some filter might be up, like you are looking at US traffic only but they are showing you international. Stuff like that, ask them to send you their analytics or stats and you will consider re-newing with them. that will give them incentive at the same time to bother to show you evidence.

At the same time you can get to the bottom of this. =)

There are others out there that are paid subscriptions and real time tracking.
But again, if you install all out there, they will also tell you all different results.
But not too far off.

It depends on how their system tracks data. GA tends to track less than the actual. That is what i know.

1. Monthly SEO performance plan
2. Link Building Packages
3. VAs rental

Pain is a perception, so is defeat, self esteem & happiness !
