Default Pushing It Over the Edge - Getting the First Page on Google

I've currently got a small niche site running a few products through Amazon Associates that's ranked on the second page of Google SERPs. I've only been building backlinks up until this point and it's been working fairly well. My problem is I seem to be 'stuck' on the second page. Should I just keep building backlinks or do you guys know of a better way to push my site over the edge and snag a spot on the first page?

Perhaps you could consult the company listed in your signature?

I didn't say I didn't know how to rank on the first page, what I'm asking for is a better way to get on the first page

Depends on a lot of factors, main ones being your competition and what they have done to get there, your quality and method of link building, etc.

Perhaps start a blog attached to your website and interlink it with the pages you wish to rank for. This works every time for me.

The amount of competition is close to zero for my target keywords so it's not really a matter of if I can get on the first page but instead how fast. Would keyword rich content on a few different pages of my site be enough to put it over the edge? Or was the purpose of the blog to build more backlinks?

Read the post linked to in my signature... I've literally included my whole SEO strategy there. Hasn't failed me once.

Shambles.

for many keywords, trust is the main factor in getting to page 1.
If you don't have enough gov, edu, etc. links and your site is young,
you won't get to page 1.
When you do get to page 1, for any decent keyword, count on a manual review.
If you don't pass the manual review, you won't last long on page 1.

It took almost a year to get my keyword to page 1.
