I had a page on my site hxxp://mysite.com/my-page It had a PR of 3 and ranked highly for the phrase my page My whole site was a wreck with navigation, structure, etc., so I spent the late hours last night "fixing" it (I hope). Without realizing it I ended up with a category called hxxp://mysite.com/my-page Here's what I did, and I have no idea what I should have done but it was late... I took the content from the page, and pasted it as the main content for my category page (I have thesis, so I was able to do this) SO now my category page has the exact same article as the original page, and then about 20 articles "under it" in the normal way my site is set up. So I thought about redirecting the "page" but the URL is exactly the same so that seemed dumb. And I didn't want the same article on the site twice... So I just said screw it and deleted the page. Now I have the category set up like I want it. I'm assuming all links pointing the original will still point to the category, right? The URL is identical. Anyway, long-term I know it was the right thing to do, just wondering about in the good ole short term. |

You should be fine. I have done this when redesigning client sites from static to WP. If the url is the same, and the content similar, it should be fine. |
