Are You Focusing On The Right Kind Of Backlinks?

Hi guys,
There seem to be a lot of questions about backlinks lately. We all know that the Google model is focused around backlinks, but my question is, what kind of backlinks are you focusing on?

I see guys talking about getting 10,000 backlinks etc etc, but in my opinion your money would be better spent chasing high PR backlinks.

So what is your SEO backlink model involve?

Do you go after everything and anything, taking whatever you get? Do you go after thousands of low quality backlinks? Or do you focus on only getting the high PR backlinks?

In my opinion, you can cut out your work load and save a lot of time by using the latter model. That's my 2 cents at least

I use to buy 10,000 blog comment blasts here, 50,000 forum profile blasts there, then my site got sandboxed!

Blasts, to your money site is such a waste of money!!!

Now I focus on one high-quality PR6 instead of a 10k blast, or one PR8 for every 100,000 low quality blasts. It's amazing how much better this method is.

I have completely abandoned all profile type backlinks... And massive comment blasts as well. Oh and all directory submissions.

Only do high PR comments (if blasting), social bookmarking (manual on high traffic sites and automated on the rest), press releases, high PR blog posting, mass blog posting, some article directories (not always), social media stuff (twitter, facebook, G+), manual blog commenting... damn there are so many.

I spend time on high quality links. I spend bandwidth and cpu on thousands of crappy links - i have a VPS that runs pretty much 24/7 churning out this stuff.
Mass link spam is still very usefull, just dont spend a lot of time on it, and dont just blast 100K links to your main site with the same anchor.

It's best to focus on quality, not quantity when it comes to backlink building. However, you shouldn't reject blog comment or forum profile blasts just because of this, as they're still useful.

Quantity year or two ago would serve the purpose but not anymore.Apparantly from my experience and from the experience of others quality is now the thing so go with less but good one

Focus on getting high quality high PR links to your money site.

Create quality links to your site from Web2.0 blogs that you run and then blast the hell out of those sites

Do some bookmarking, some articles, some blog comments, some profile links - diversity is key.

Just don't overdo it. Rather blast your 2nd tier sites with spam links.

I believe I'm in the right path when it comes to my backlinks. I don't build backlink blasts directly to my main site, instead I'm blasting the backlinks that pointing to my main site. It gives great benefits on since it's a 2 tier backlink strategy.

Press release
Manual blog comments
Some high PR that fall off because of a blog network
Some guest posts
Submission to ezine (for syndication, not link) but I stick in 2 links anyway
Few social bookmarks just to let people know about it
A tweet
A post on the facebook

Now I'm playing with squidoo cause it's kind of fun and you get 9 links. I don't know what their worth, probably like any other web 2.0, but at least I get to have a little fun.
