How to Get Your YouTube Videos Ranked

Panda ate some of my money sites. So I adapted.

Now I have a YouTube video ranking #3 for a keyword that gets 60,000 exact monthly searches in the U.S. I'm ranking for other keywords that get 1000 to 9000 exactly monthly searches as well. I'm going to do a lot more of these little videos in the coming weeks.

Here's what I did:

1). I created a video. Nothing fancy. I wrote some text on a piece of paper with red marker and highlighted key points

2). Uploaded the video to YouTube. I included my keyword in my title, tags, description, and made sure that the link to my site was the first part of the description.


3). I used two services to get ranked:

• Kevin Kurgansky's YouTube video service (he gave me a deal)
• ALN Service by Martijn and Jeff (discounts till end of January)

That's it. I'm currently experimenting using JUST backlinks to see if I even need both services, but I used both of these and it took me about a 6-7 weeks to get my ranked.

I've been finding that YouTube videos are VERY easy to rank as long as you know what you're doing. I've gotten a large handful to rank top 5 for 8,000+/mo search terms. I'm going to scale it up and start targeting higher competition phrases.

Also, I've found that if a YouTube video is already sitting on page 1,2, or even 3 it's a lot easier to get yours to page 1.

I got an email from one of your admins which lead me to warrior forum. And of course, I am aware that posting a youtube video does wonders for your business as I am a member of World Wide Brands and have already heard this story. What I am puzzled by is how would it work for my products which are women apparel, handbags, and perfumes. How do you suggest I create a video with those types of product?

And if I read correctly, you state that the video can be done without actually shooting and making the video. Now I would love to see that.

If you do this type of work (which I suppose you do, since I found your Username on a few freelance websites) how much do you charge and what is the actual video consist of? Do you have a plan that you share with your customers or do they believe you so much with whatever video you create.

By the way the email I got about how to make youtube video did not really provide me with the link to the right website so I can educate myself a bit more before deciding to buy this, would you be so kind to do so for all of us. Googled it with your username, again no success...

I use several different methods of building backlinks and getting

Ok cool so you got ranked for one of your keywords using youtube. Has the video made made you any money? I think that is the most important part of this whole post. Yeah I have videos too that get a ton of views and have the title tag and they click on my link in the description....but still no conversions.

So this is all about testing to see what converts into money.... Otherwise...whats the point?

I just did exactly the same thing I do with my normal websites. I have a couple of videos sitting in the top 3 in Youtube, and a few that are raking in Google as well. It's no different in my opinion. Just get quality backlinks to your site.

Other than searching through all google pages, how do you find the ranking of your youtube video?

how do you backlink to your videos? what I mean is what URL would I use for backlinks?

For everyone else: Use Kevin's service and then build anchor text links back to the video. I'm still not sure of all of the variables, but I know that anchor text plus the views/comments that Kevin will get you got my video ranked.

That's pretty much all there is to it. SEO it like you would any other site. YT videos tend to rank a LOT faster than a new site. But you're putting yourself at the mercy of YouTube.

@pbbiet - you can monetize them by affiliate sales.. promote affiliate products using these videos and you'll get some amazing conversions. People who spend 5-6 mins watching a video convert more easily then people who read sales pages or review pages.

I agree that ranking on YouTube is significantly easier than ranking on Google, a lot less competition and most of the top videos don't really know what they are doing for ranking. I am currently ranked #1 for a pretty high-searched keyword. I just need to upscale this and start creating more videos when I have the tips.

I always use SocialADR as well. Social bookmarking backlinks can help you rank well your video in youtube.

Regarding conversions, I'm seeing some. Even though YT clearly converts at a lower % than clicks from your own site. Note that these are product links. I'm sure you can increase your conversions with CPA offers / other freebies.

Then again, a low conversion rate when you're getting 150-200 clicks a day can still be pretty decent if you're converting on bigger ticket items.

@giseo Yes, just like normal backlinks to your site. Even embedding a video on your site would help PR. The URL of your youtube video has PR just like any other page on the web. You can see how the PR of different youtube videos changes when you use something like SEO quake add on for chrome or firefox.

To make your video more prominent on youtube you need more and more visitors. More views means more optimized video.
Use a lot of keywords even irelevent.
chose an attractive thumbnail for your video
this will help to increase views.

Nice to share your experience with one video but what about your others?

I have been earning from Youtube for a few years now. It is a totally different game with its own challenges.

Throwing backlinks at a video does not always work. It did a few months ago but doesn't necessarily work now. I know this from personal experience. Embeds are definitely worth something. Forum or edu packet backlinks much less, if anything at all.

Views do indeed count for a lot but, again, you are not always rewarded in rankings if you pump a ton of views. I am actually experimenting with the Vagex viewer at the moment which appears to be one of the better ones.

If you do Youtube the "organic" way, it can take 6 months for your keywords to "bed-in" and start giving you traffic. Yet, this does not always work. I have done experiments across several niches and many are lousy while others are good in terms of traffic, commercial intent/conversion and other aspects.

Basically, it's an untested world because so few people are taking it seriously and doing any rigorous testing (unlike SEO, for example). Believe me, if it were so easy to just throw some backlinks and boost some views, everyone would be doing it.

Unless you've had moderate success with more than just this one video, I'd call your success an anomaly. There are plenty of anomalies on Youtube - just look at those random videos that have 4 million views even though there is nothing redeeming about them. They just get "stuck" up the listings/related videos for some crazy and unfathomable reason.

Thanks for your reply Chris. You bring up some good points. That's why I'm sharing my experience here... Maybe it is an anomaly, maybe it isn't. Hopefully other Warriors will follow these steps to see what happens.

I'm not profiting from this thread, so I have no incentive to do anything but tell the truth. To your point, I am kind of surprised at the rankings, so I'm doing another test. One just buying views. Then another with views and backlinks.

It's still unchartered territory for sure, but we all benefit by publicly sharing our experiences.
