How many Adsense Ads per page?

I currently have 3 (Text) - 336x280 and 1 - 728x15 Link Ad , so this makes a total of 4.

are we not supposed to have total of 3 ad units only per page? or are they talking about 3(text/image) and can have 1 Link Ad also?

Don't put many ads on a single page, just put only 1-3 ads to make it look friendly to the readers.

Actually you ARE ALLOWED to have 3 text ads as well as a link unit ad.

So you can have more than 3 but only 3 text ads. Whether you want that many is another issue altogether. If you have less ads, then you get a higher CPC for the ads that you have. Something to think about...

Ad units and link ads are different. I believe the current guidelines allow 3 of each on a single page.

Google Recommends 3 Ads Per Page! You can not Display More Then 3 Add per Page! However you can display other Affiliate Networks ads as many you can!

I think at the most 3 text ads and 2 link ads per page is allowed. Google sent me an email asking me to add at least 3 ads per page and after that my revenue doubled. i have a high CTR and per click.

WRONG!!! You can ONLY have 3 content ads. But you are also allowed to have 2 link unit ads and a search box ad on top of that. So you could have a total of SIX ads if you really wanted to. But that's overkill if you ask me.

I would recommend keeping it as low as possible. The less ad units you have, the more each click is worth. Try finding out which blocks are being clicked the most and remove the rest.

Just keep it natural, and indeed max 3 text ads and 2 image/search ads I think. If you have a small page I would stick to 3 max in total. If your page is larger (scrolldown) just add more.
