Now that Market Samurai is down I have started using Rank Tracker.
The program seems very reliable and I am glad to have found it.

Why is it Rank Tracker can get these results and not Market Samurai?

There's no limit. You can create as many Rank Tracker projects as you wish. You can track the main website + 10 competitors in one project.

I have RankTracker installed, but I don't use it really. I don't find it much useful. You will start receiving some traffic only if you get really close to page 1, actually on the 1st page above the fold.

Why do you guys use it? Isn't enough just to check your traffic stats regularly?

I regularly use Rank Tracker to check for positions of my different keywords and that guides me on which keywords I should have more of my efforts added.

As of now I am using the free version that does not store your keyword checks but I think it is great tool to monitor your rankings.

You could also use SEO Books Rank Checker which is a firefox plugin and according to there site it doesn't utilize the Google API so it still works fine. The link is below and nope, i'm not an affiliate!

Rank Tracker is on the spot usually on the keyword positions. Only wish there were more than the top 100 results so you can track more long tailed keywords.

Rank Tracker is a good tool.

Are you looking for a desktop app where you log in each day and tell it when to rank, or are you looking for a solution that takes care of all of that for you?

With something like Rank Tracker, you also need to worry about proxies and getting banned from Google. So you might also want to look at an online rank tracker, since they take care of all of that for you.

However, if you don't mind taking care of all of that yourself, I would definitely recommend Rank Tracker.

With online tool like msm you have to worry about owners/operators of the tool getting insights into your niche and general privacy issues. Do you really need a proxy to operate rank tracker and is google really going to ban your ip if your just monitoring your own sites and not going crazy with the program.
