Does this duplicate content effect my SEO?

I've been building a review site, and i have excerpts of all my reviews on my home page.

As these excerpts are taken from my review pages this would appear to create quite a lot of duplicate content on my home page.

I've noticed that a lot of other sites do this as well, but I feel I need to be clear in my own mind about what the best practice is if I want my home page to rank well.

Is this an issue that i need to be concerned about?

It is usually not considered an issue.

In a more perfect world, you could consider using the WordPress post excerpt field.

Which unfortunately is usually hidden

You shouldn't be bothered by that. All the major content sites are doing it and they rank high. Google knows how to understand these kind of stuff.

This is not a Duplicate content, no need to be concerned, bunch of my sites have excerpt fields.

Yes, the duplicate contents effects on your web site page ranking. Google is very smart if we use copy paste links, Google knows about all that stuff which we have used for our web site. when Google analyses the site that time that all effects on web site PR.

Duplicate content on same page is not an issue but if your one page have 2 different web addresses than your website may be penalized by Google.
