Hi Warriors, I'll lay out this scenario and report how I'm considering going about the project. I'm interested in hearing about how you characters might go about things differently in this situation. On a recent project, my team re-designed a client's site that now includes a locator feature. I'll use X's to keep this generalized, so after entering in a zip code, the user is taken to a localized page that features all available "X's in (area X)". On-page SEO for the locator is pretty dialed-in and there's quite a few individual pages that focus on specific geographical areas. We've attempted this tactic for another project about a year ago, and the result's were great, eventually we started ranking organically within the first 3 SERPS for the query "X's in (area X)". That's what I'm figuring will happen with this current re-design but I'd like do some link building to a few of the new locator pages and help expedite ranking for several localized pages. I'm fairly confident these pages will begin to rank naturally in time as the other project did, but to boost that process I'm considering a mix of social bookmarking and sourcing a few original articles and publishing them to my outside network of industry blogs. Perhaps a sprinkle of directory submissions with targeted anchor text? What do you guys think, is there a more effective way this might be done? |

I would do all you mentioned, but add in video and image. I've had a lot of success with the following: Create videos based on the articles you're having done (2-3 videos in a problem/solution format). Summarize each video with unique descriptions and direct links to the page and main site. Put those on YouTube and embed the videos in the blog posts you'll be syndicating. Next, create 1 or 2 images that would go well with the posts you're writing. Upload those to a Panoramio account (complete the profile). Panoramio is owned by Google and allows for Geo-tagging. For each of the two images, geo-tag, tag, optimize title and then in the comment fields, place a keyword-rich description, with a citation and a link to the main site, the YouTube videos and the pages you're trying to rank. Embed these images in the syndicated blog posts as well by linking to the panoramio image. I would then drip the blog posts out, bookmark each post and then drip bookmark the videos themselves. Depending on the number of blog posts you're sending out (40-50) I would drip this out over at least 10 days. When doing the bookmarking, I would have a wider range of keywords used, but keep it tighter in the blog posts. With the images, videos, blog posts that are syndicated and the posts on the money site also with embed images and video... you've got a pretty slick linkwheel-type thingy. Hope that helps. |

| The site itself is quite old and well-established (PR 6), but the re-design is fairly new. Magicbeanz, kudos for one for one of the slickest linkwheel-type thingy's I've read about in a long time, thanks for the detailed reply! That's golden, I'll have to see about incorporating some of that into our tactic. Cheers! |
