Hello there. May i ask for opinion again please. :-) My client has a new ecommerce site - subdomain (http://xxx.clientsite.mothercompany(dot)com) and he has a redirected url (http://xxx.clientsite(dot)com). Will there be a difference if i use the redirected url instead - so we will not give away immediately the name of the mother company (source of goodies)? What do you think? Thanks guys! |

Someone asked Matt Cutts once if it was ok to use a lot of 301s in a backlink profile. e.g. sometimes SEO companies will do this -- so that they can "angle" their links at the paying customers. He laughed briefly and said he didn't think that would appear natural. But it is a very common thing to see. e.g. major companies rebrand all the time. So, if the two companies were legit, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But if you keep building to a domain - with the intent of always redirecting, i'd think you should consider changing that policy eventually. |
