Have you ever thought this? Especially text content on the same keywords. Almost every subject has been re-written and re-hashed! Very few articles are really that compelling. How much longer do you think Google will care about 'text-based articles.' Face it, many people hate to read. Your thoughts? |

I hope people don't stop producing good content. There are new products, medicines and services created everyday for everyone to write about. The magazines and newspapers never run out of new material. Life is funny and there is a lot to write about. Some people hate to read, but I think the majority enjoys reading. I love to read. Just look at the popularity of the Kindle. ![]() Maybe the stuff on popular keywords is over saturated, but I find interesting things to read on the keywords that I search for. |

I think you mean 'the Internet', not 'Google'. I much prefer to read online than watch a video or play a game. You're just limiting your sources of information if you believe there are few compelling pages. Do I think other web media forms are becoming more important than they were previously? Yes. Do I think their popularity will continue to grow? Yes. |

Hi, Content doesn't necessarily mean words. Good content can be a mix of words, pictures, graphics, video... anything and any combination that is engaging, entertaining and communicates well with the target audience. |

I don't think that everything has rehashed. The internet is always inventing new and exciting ways to deliver content. I think the movement towards internet text is just beginning....with tablets, e-readers, smartphones, etc. magazines and newspapers are being replaced by content on the web. On the other hand, there are some niches that are tired out and have been rehashed many a times over...totally based on how you view the situation micro vs macro. |

You guys makes good points. I guess an example of fresh content is always a 'Tip.' Someone who gets the newest version of a game and discovers a new trick has essentially unique content. I've extended my view of content to include text, images, and video. There are more, but those are the ones I'm using for 'content marketing.' I think there's even a demand for PDFs that's growing as Mack Attack said. What other kinds of content do people create? |

| I create downloadable files for a sub-niche, I won't say what file extension considering it would give up the niche. I'm sure If I'm creating a niche specific file, others are doing the same. I have a few sites with a couple thousand hand built pages that each have approx. 1 sentence/description (per page) for the files I create. Creating specialty sub-niche content makes it pretty easy to get community type traffic (niche forum traffic, etc...). |

Sort of a smart idea overall and a clever way to get people to generate content and visit the site. Leveraging people's enthusiasm is always a good idea. | |

I agree and disagree. 99% Of all crap online is useless anyway. But the unique and useful content - there is not enough of that. Also, especially in those niches which requires technical knowledge. Imagine starting a blog devoted to programming in ASP.NET with a lot of heavy good samples, that would rock compared to yet another site about getting a quick loan. But yes - what 99% of what people write in here (oh and the rest of the Internet) - sure! No more of that. |

LOL! A little over 100 years ago, a man in the US patent office said we might as well close down because there is nothing left to invent. Libraries and books have replaced books and magazines. I guess you haven't heard of a little 'ol site called wikipedia. Admit it. When you want info you go running to find it on the internet. And you read it, most likely. Paul |

I agree that there is indeed too much, maybe a good term to use is 'overpopulated', amount of information out there, and much of it outdated. But when I want to look up something, say 'how to fix my brakes', I want as much as I can have, to go through and sift through to find my situation, and call me biased, but sometimes what I want to hear. Google is and has been good at putting most of the 'crap' towards the end of the index, so the good stuff stays out in front. But yeah, it does tend to be information overload at times, especially when you have to weed through sites that are obviously depository, or snippet sites, that you think are going to hold the answer for you.. they're a waste of time and I wish these would just shut down! |

The current content space is actually pretty bad Try to think of what the top 10 will look like in a decade from now. It will be a multimedia cacophony |

Interesting but I'm sure your town once had "every store" it needed, but competition breeds new ventures, including perspectives, service, marketing, and freshness. I'm sure most people thought why Facebook, when you have Myspace. The marketer/competitive side of you should say "I'm going to build a better wheel".
