Alright guys, I've got 5 sites that are almost exactly the same. Same theme, same niche, same amount of articles, very similar competition, searches, etc. I've been link building to them for 2 months now and for some strange reason the site with the most competition and highest searches per month is ranked #1, however the other 4 sites are stuck on page 2. Even stranger, the site ranked #1 in google is nowhere to be found on bing/yahoo, all the other sites are, with 1 or 2 ranked on first page. I've been scratching my head for a few days and started analyzing what I could possible be doing wrong. Come to find out the site ranked #1 is the only one using All in One SEO plugin. The other four are using Yoast SEO. For the site ranked #1 I only have All in One SEO and Google XML sitemaps, for the other four the only plugin installed is Yoast SEO, with sitemaps option enabled. Considering I've been doing practically the exact same backlinking method for every site the only thing I'm left to believe is that for some reason Yoast SEO is holding me back. So to test this theory I'm going to change 2 of the sites over to All in One SEO and see if there are any changes to SERPs. I'll post updates in this thread and if anybody else has used Yoast please feel free to share your experience. |

I have always stuck with the all in one SEO plugin but this is an interesting case study, curious to see the outcome.

Yoast is better...hands down... You can do everything these plug-ins offer manually... So it just comes down to which one is more user friendly... Yoast SEO is a really well put together plug-in... Joost is a good dude... You should tip him a few bucks $$$ |

I've used all in one SEO from the very beginning, but I've recently been switching to Yoast for all my new and existing sites. Yoast seems to have more options and automation. That being said, all in one SEO is still a quality product. Phil |

I've always stuck with All In One SEO, but Yoast seems so nice, and can do the job of Google XML sitemaps, AND All in one SEO.... so i'm thinking of switching to test it out... However, it should be noted that my site that uses ALL in ONE SEO also ranks number 1 for it's competitive term... go figure...i guess i'll stick to what works for now ;-) but please do keep us posted! |

Ok I finally got everything switched over. Note that all four of these sites are about 3 months old and all have been using Yoast SEO plugin. All have same theme, same amount of articles, very similar searches per month, etc. I switched two sites over to All in One and will be keeping an eye on SERP changes. 2 switched to All in One: site 1 ranked 15 site 2 ranked 10 2 staying with Yoast: site 1 ranked 13 site 2 ranked 11 Let's see what happens... |

I've been trying both recently, Yoast's seems to be a little nicer as far as knowing all of the elements are covered. I'm also testing to see what works best.

I prefer WordPress › Platinum SEO Pack « WordPress Plugins above All-In-One-SEO same features but platinum sites seem to rank better |

In practical terms, what is the difference between the two? At the end of a day an optimized static html site can rank just as high as an optimized wordpress site. So why would yoast be any better than all in one (and vice versa)? Is it just different features or is there some secret sauce that boosts the seo rankings? Sam |

Take a look at my assessment in my pretty recent blog post (8 Legendary Ways To Speed Up Your Wordpress Setup | Witty Diary). In point 7, it discusses the different advantages of the SEO plugins - like Yoast SEO and AIO SEO. I personally use AIO SEO though - because it's very easy to set up. Most blogs I've seen also use AIO SEO, and they rank pretty well. Think about it - they all feature the same basic functionalities. All that matters in the end are the meta tags and your linking infrastructure. Hope that helps. -wittyblogger |

Interesting stuff, would be keen to find out the outcome alex 'legit seo'. Keep us updated, I have seo yoast and aio seo pack installed, maybe I should get rid of one of them to compare the results they can produce. |

Any updates on this one? Especially with the latest Panda/Penguin updates? I'm not sure how good it is to compare between the two plugins. If you do, why not also tell us what functions you used that differ? That would help much better. |

I have used both the plugins but never noticed any changes. Just feel that yoast has more features that helps to optimize my on-page seo compared to all in one seo.
