Default More Youtube Videos = More Traffic = More Income

This makes sense to me. The more vids you put out there, the more traffic you get - and if you have your videos monetized - the more income you get.

For myself - there's a lot of stuff I want to say on different subjects. From how to do certain things to software testing videos to Civil War to human psychology. I'm thinking that if I make my videos brief enough (about two to three minutes each) - that would get to the point for each video and people can walk away learning something new. It's all about information that ppl are looking for and I've been around long enough to create a ton of videos in order to help people - and to make a few extra bucks.

I'm surprised that people don't mention this or try to do it. What do you guys think of this idea?

In the words of Art Williams "just do it...and do it ...and do it...do it..."

If you help people with your videos, just do it. If people learn something new and usefull, just do it. If peole get a laugh from it and you made their day better, do it anyway.

If it cant be done, do it.

I have made my first video about a couplke of hours ago. No design work or editing, just to get the ball rollin. There is already some buzz over it and will continue to post on stuff I know of course.

So video is like content (or it is content I should say) if its good people will like/share/tweet it, if its crappy noone will bother.

Wish you all the best.

Sincerely, Buyseech

I think YouTube is the third most visited website on The Internet. That seems like a good white hat strategy.

This does work but if you are making keyword based videos it is very much a numbers game. 10% of your videos may bring you 90% of your traffic.

That's just the way it is. Still, your strategy of more videos for more traffic definitely works.

Yeah - I'll probably be trying that soon. I have a great cam corder but my phone has great video and can upload it to Youtube faster.

However, I'll be optimizing them w/ certain KWs. Also may use Google Analytics to see which niches to put the videos in.

I have been doing this for a while and my advice would be:
1. Do lots and lots of videos. As mentioned before, it's a numbers game. There is not much logic (that I can see) as to what youtube decides to rank - apart from heavily backlinked ones. If you do loads, some will creep to the top.
2. Make a video and chop it into parts, giving you more videos.
3.Don't give up, it can take time. I have videos that didn't do anything for a year and then youtube suddenly put it to the top.

Hope that helps. PM me if you got any questions.

Thanks Amunt for your experience. Just curious - how many videos do you have?

I have around 100 videos I want to upload that I have "laying around on my hard drive" - doing nothing. Vacations to Colorado and Florida - I think ppl would be interested in.

But my future videos will be me talking about various things that I personally have gone through and a lot of advice I want to give. Also - tutorials on software testing and possibly SEO is on my slate. I think the reason why I didn't do a whole lot until now is because it always took me so long to setup my camera on a tripod, make sure the lighting was good, etc. Now, I just use my phone and aim it at myself and I just say what's on my mind. There is some link bait material I want to use.

One more thing. On some of my videos, I was thinking about going to fiverr and hiring an attractive female for giving "SEO Tip of the Day" or something like that. I would have the script for her. People would be clicking on her more than my ugly mug.

/\ Its definitely not "all about" information people are looking for.

In fact some of the highest traffic videos on youtube have been a complete waste of peoples time. And people know that, but they still have to watch them.

Videos like "how to cook popcorn with 4 iphones"
or "ipad off the bed drop test"

I would also start incorporating a viral effect in some of the videos you post.
Things like:
Breaking electronics that everyone uses, dropping them from buildings (people for some reason love to watch this **** even though its a waste of time)
Claiming you unlocked a feature that doesn't actually exist in a phone, but make it look real.
Doing magic/voodoo with electronics like the popcorn cooking. Instead you can maybe have someone holding an iphone, pretending to drive your car with just the phone. Then have someone in the car ducked down who is actually driving it. Put grapes in a microwave and claim you can make plasma with them. Just do anything off the wall and people will generally click your videos. The normal educational videos sure get clicks too, but I just find the chances of any sort of viral effect are nill to none.

Those are the types of vids Id stick with and I refuse to post a vid unless I think it has mass potential for clicks. The numbers game never worked for me. But I can tell you being a bit less educational and a bit more entertaining can almost always help your videos. Sure people go to youtube to learn. But more than that they go there to have "fun".

RedShifted:

Good point. Sure, the majority of my videos will be on serious issues - but I've noticed that animals draw a lot of views. These are nothing but utter waste of time. People do want to be entertained and the utilize Youtube just for that.

I didn't mention this - but we do have a dog and a cat and our nine year old daughter has four ginuea pigs. You should see the number of view that these people get just for putting there stupid ginuea pigs on film that do nothing but squeak. But hey - give the people what they want. So yes, we will incorporate a lot of videos of our animals onto our channel.

But you are right - most ppl go to YT to be entertained.

One of the websites that I run purely gets traffic off of videos on Youtube. It was when I realized that I've bought a **** domain (A long time ago, when I first started out) and wouldn't be rank for any keywords I decided to use Youtube as a method of traffic generation. I now have 300 videos that drive traffic from Youtube to that website and it's doing reasonably well.

Also, if your videos do well on Youtube you'll get an offer to become their partners which will add to your income. A very useful but untapped source.

I agree. That is one of my goals as well. For the last three years I've been ranking websites w/in the SERPs. This will be no different. If I see Google placing a few of my vids on the second page - you bet I'll be backlinking to them to get them up on the first page above the fold. This is a great way of getting traffic outside of Youtube obviously.

However, every video that I post, I'll be placing them on my twitter and FB accounts (the ones that are relevant anyway) and placing them w/in social BM sites as well. Not for backlinking purposes per say, but for referral traffic.

Monetizing Youtube with Adsense is totally a numbers game.

I have a few videos I monetize & recently found out you can get a decent amount of free Adsense clicks from TrueView in-stream ads. All the traffic has to do is watch the 30 second video Ad & it counts as a single Adsense click.

My CTR on TrueView in-stream ads is +9%, meaning 9% of my video views are watching the whole 30 second video Ad at the beginning of my videos, so I get pay per view for 9% of my traffic, they don't have to click anything (I still get payed).

How I Increased My Youtube/Adsense Income

My brother has 300+ tutorial videos that bring in between 10k-14k traffic per day. He still creates new videos & trying to get more Youtube traffic.

Youtube has to be the easiest way to earn money online in 2012, IMO.

Dev!l, how do you drive traffic from a youtube video to your website. I have a couple of crappy sites that I bought too that I need to send some traffic too. Any advice you would like to share would be appreciated.
