Default Scrapebox

Is it necessary to use proxies to scrape urls with scrapebox. Mine only finds like 10 urls for "travel" for wordpress blogs

I use it. The lack of returns would, i think, be caused by a different error...

doesnt sound proxy related...

I got over 1400 results after removing duplicates.

Make sure you have the Wordpress radial dial selected and just enter "travel" in the keyword box. If you are doing that and you are only getting 10 results, your proxies are garbage.

Unless you use good quality PAID proxies, you will get poor results. If you don't use proxies, you will get banned very quickly and your ip will be blocked. It is against Googles TOS to use any tool that abuses their services. The same goes now for Market Samurai. You have to use your own proxies because they don't have their cloud service facility anymore. But as we are all now experiencing, the so called MS resurrection is not really that good.

You have always had to use proxies in Market Samurai, whether it be theirs or your own, for any reasonable number of queries. Public proxies will work with varying results.

Battering Google with search queries normally results in a very quick ip ban.

You should obtain some good quality free anonymous or elite proxies that are Google verified. There are some good proxy scrapers available for that purpose. My personal experience to date has been that the best results are always from private paid proxies.

Warning from MS on opening:-

Warning: These search requests will come from your own computer and not from our cloud infrastructure. We recommend not checking more than 10 keywords at a time in quick succession. Checking too many keywords in this manner may reduce your ability to use Google for yourself and anyone sharing your Internet connection.
We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience.

Incidently, you can scrape proxies with scrapebox. They are not the fastest or most reliable ones but they work and they are free.

Yes, you need proxies for SB.

You should use proxies when you're testing other proxies.

You should use GOOGLE PASSED proxies when scraping from SERPs.

You should use proxies when mass-checking PR, scraping from Google Images, etc..

Pretty much just make sure you use proxies.

I use it too. This result seems awkward. May be your Ip has been blacklisted temporarily by google. I have a dynamic ip and i get lots of results.

Let's keep this simple.

Yes, you absolutely need proxies. Scrapebox without proxies is basically useless. When it comes to harvesting URLs you need good proxies, and lots of them. Don't worry about private proxies here. You'll just burn them out. You need good PUBLIC proxies for the harvester. Don't use the proxy harvester built into SB. It's just awful. Find a good source of constantly updated public proxies and bookmark it.

For most everything else (especially posting) good shared / private proxies are a huge help.

I would highly recommend using proxies, as the IP that is submitting the comments, is one of the factors many blogs use to determine Spam comments, and if you posted 1,000's of comments your IP most definitely got flagged. If you are going to try to use Scrapebox without proxies, you need to look for lists of auto-approve links, aka ones that do not have any type of spam filtering.

You MUST use proxies with scrapebox when harvesting or commenting. If you have no other choice use the internal proxy sources that come with scrapebox, however those are so overused that they are practically worthless.
If you can use a custom footprint and harvest some proxy url's then use the proxies or buy private proxies.

The internal proxy sites that come with scrapebox suck. You'll get a lot of results, and it will take forever to test them all to find the 50 or so good ones that will likely be dead soon after you find them.

Try finding your own sites to scrape proxies off of. Just use google to find sites that not every scrapebox user knows about already. Add them one at a time, and test them (one at a time). If the site gives 0 results remove it. More importantly if it gives a lot of results, and they suck remove it to. The goal is to find a bunch of sites with a high percentage of WORKING proxies. It saves a lot of time in the long run.

It took me 2-3 hours of testing, but I finally put together a list of 15 sites. It gives me a total of 2k results, and usually 100-200 of them work. Much better results then I was getting from the internal proxies.

First, you need to make sure you have it set up properly.

Click Options > Use New Proxy Harvester.

Click Settings > Adjust Max Connections. Set the proxy harvester max connections to 30 then apply.

Click Settings > Adjust Timeout Settings. Set the proxy harvester to 10 second timeout then apply.

Now in the proxy harvester, load this list as your proxy sources:

You'll get around 60,000 proxies to test. Obviously you wont need that many, so what I do, is I harvest from the first URL of each domain.

Then when you are testing the proxies, MAKE SURE IGNORE GOOGLE IS CHECKED!

Enjoy

10 will only be enough if you "Remove Duplicate Domains". Some scrapes I'll get 50 different URLs from one domain. If you attempt to post to them with only 10 IPs you can easily get your site blacklisted. Either buy more proxies in this case or take the time to scan your URLs before posting.

When I look back at all the hours I wasted harvesting free proxies I get sad. If you use any SEO tool that requires intense SE queries then get yourself some cheap "shared" proxies to scrape with.

Post with private proxies and scrape with shared. Free proxies are fun when you're learning but they really slow you down once you know what you're doing.

Good advice in this thread. I am just learning scrapebox and can see the need for private proxies. I'm going to spend a few days learning the ropes before I spend more money though.

Check your proxies again or scrape without proxy. Though you might got banned by google for too many searches but without proxy will give you much more result than using proxy.

That's unfortunate. SB has plenty of white hat uses as well.

I was not aware that MS used proxies. Where do you find the section to load proxies into?

You have to use proxies for Scrapebox. If it's just for scraping, there are a lot of free public ones.

depends if your using slow poster
if you do 10 private proxies is enough
for the average user. only more is needed
for heavy users.

Slow Poster/Fast poster it doesn't matter. If you scrape 50 URL's from one domain and only have 10 proxies to post with then on average you will be posting 5 times with the same proxy. This can raise a red flag and get your site banned from the site and perhaps blacklisted if your URL is shared with anti-spam communities.

Yes you are not doing it right.

You can use public proxies to harvest and private to post.

10 is definitely not enough, on my set up I use about 250 private proxies.

It depends what you need to do but I definitely couldn't get by with 10.

I don't do a lot of posting but use about 75 or so proxies for scraping.

10 is definitely not enough for scraping. But for posting it's generally fine.

For scraping I've actually got a text file that I update once or twice a day with 2,000+ public proxies. (From a source outside of the SB proxy harvester.)

Don't you get sick of having to sort through them, though?

I get a huge list of free proxies sent to me each day from Hide My Ass but I only ever use them if I want to do some posting from a really wide range of IP's.

It's annoying waiting to sort the good from the bad.

I'm with you on that Pat.

If I added up all the time I spent sorting proxies I'd add a week to my life

My formula is buying lots of cheap "shared proxies" for scraping and use "dedicated proxies" for posting.

These proxies are used almost exclusively for scraping. I used to CONSTANTLY test and sort them. But I've given that up. Now it's really just a matter of spending a couple of minutes in the morning and evening adding new proxies to the list & removing dupes. Once every few days I'll test them and remove dead ones.

Since they're (usually) used just for scraping I don't spend too much time testing and sorting them. I still get a ton of results from the URL harvester without doing so since there's so many different proxies in the text file. It's over 3,500 at the moment.
