I want to know from you experienced IM'ers, when do you consider something to be too much competition? I know you have to go into niches and stuff like that, but what is a good indicator that that niche really isn't feasible for you? To get a view of probably the worst competition possible, i thought of "buy refrigerators online". I'm thinking, the competition probably doesnt get much too worse than that. So the top result for "buy refrigerators online" in google is a Best Buy page. I checked the backlinks through SEO Spyglass and MajesticSEO and they gave methe following results. SEO Spyglass says that that Best Buy site has a total of 28,000+ backlinks, i didnt bother to have it check all of those links because it simply would take too long with my slow net connect. In any manner I'm pretty sure it's just nuts trying to do that one. MajesticSEO says that it has about 60 referring domains and 250 external backlinks, Now I'm thinking, that must be brutal to try and take that niche over. By comparison, this is my first try but I'm looking into getting into a certain niche. This niche's top competitor is a wikipedia page, and the next one is a page which SEOSpyglass says has about 1,600 backlinks, 3 PR6 , 20 PR5's, dozens of pr4's and so on for backlinks. MajesticSEO tells me this niche has about 50 referring domains and about 200 external backlinks. I'm thinking this looks good (although this will be my first try with the IM game). But by any chance do any of you warriors think it's a mistake for me to get into this niche? Show me what you think. |

| SEO is obviously important but there are marketing methods that tip toe right by busting your ass doing such stuff as trying to get page position on G. Same goes for competition. You can tackle most any market you want if you know what to do.

It's possible yes, it just depends on how much knowledge you have to get there. I don't know what your habits are being somewhat new, since most seem to jump from project to project. Getting ranked for that may take some time, so if you feel you don't have the patience for it, try something smaller. I'm not saying don't go for it, it's feasible and I like that your going for it. Don't give up on it if you think it's taking too long to get ranked or get any traffic. Keep trying, don't jump from project to project. |

Hey fellas, yeah it seems I might as well be going for it, I don't have much else to do. Is there anyone else who can comment on this things, or tell stories about their experiences with things close to this? would love to hear what other people have been through, and experienced and what they learned from the whole ordeal.
