I have a domain that is about 10 months old. Nothing was done to it for about 9.5 of those ten months though. I built a new site for it and have been adding links and getting in directories regularly. My question is, can i hurt my ranking by adding to many backlinks at once? in the last week that I have been working on the domain, I have showed no increase in rank what so ever. In fact when I check with Alexa or google webmaster it shows me with only one backlink to the site. Should I be worried that my site hasn't been crawled? Is there anything I can do to increase the likely hood of it being crawled in the near future? Sorry for having a million questions at once, i am...playing catch up as far as learning the basics of SEO. |

Start link building . It doesnot actually matter what quantity of links do you build. The matter of importance is that you be consistent. Link velocity matters a lot.

- Write some articles and submit them to articles directories, - create some videos and slides and share them on video sites - create some web 2.0 pages ( squidoo lenses, hubs...) make sure the content you create, or the description, has a link that includes your targeted keyword in the anchor text leading to your post. share all your content on social sites. you can use ping.fm, pixel pipe, Hellotxt to syndicate all your content to social sites. sign up to some relevant forums, find related blogs and comment about their content. Get some high PR backlinks: search for high PR sites that target your keywords, order those sites on google using SEOQuake add on and start commenting on the high pr sites. Preferably , look at authority sites, EDU, GOV sites, as their links carry much more weight than other sites. I have created a simple backlink finder tool called " Ultimate Backlink Finder". google it , you can use it free to find those sites in seconds. There's and explanation with greater details on the site which will help you figure it all out. Best Regards Tobi | |

Just be consistent, if you build 100 links a week then keep nuilding 100 links every week. Then slowly build the links up too a manageble number for you. Make sure you have fresh new content on your site as well.
