Default Help with keyword target Url in WP adsense site

Hello, I am pretty new in IM field and as such I’ve got many questions. Until now for almost everything I needed to know I was able to find answers searching the forum (that is why I have no posts activity). However, now I’m struggling with one question and despite the extensive search, I couldn’t find exact answer for (or maybe I missed it).

I’m setting up a micro niche wp site targeting group of 5 keywords and trying to figure out the optimal SEO setting for the site. I read about pages vs. posts, but still confused and not being able to figure out the following:

Should I set up a different page for each keyword phrase with static text as target URL for that keyword and have all new coming posts categorized in categories with link in each post pointing to the keyword page?

Or perhaps I should forget about pages and target one post for each keyword and try to rank the URL of this specific post instead? Therefore have links to this post from each new coming post.

And the third option (which is most logical for me) is have /category/post title (/%category%/%postname%.html) structure where I can target the category URL. In the last scenario the page content won’t be static and will change adding new posts. Than I have to have displaying at least 8 latest posts with enough text to show the given keyword and really don’t know how it will work SEOwise.
Or maybe there is whole different way to go.

I know that the above should be known as essential base knowledge and in that regard my askings may sound silly. Nevertheless, I would really appreciate any suggestions and help on this topic from experts, which I see many in here. Thank you in advance!

Thank you slomo! Very useful threads that I’ve missed somehow.
And yes, I’ve got the whole idea of having a main, “authority” page for each keyword we want to rank and bunch of supporting pages link pointing to this page.

I guess I should construct my question in more direct manner:

Is it better this single “authority” page we are trying to rank to be:

a) Static page on my wp blog?

b) Category page with URL structure /%category%/%postname%.html?

c) Freely chosen blog post page?

I’ve noticed that similar questions were asked in both threads, but somehow got unanswered.
Hope someone can share an opinion.

Have your home page static targeting the main keyword and few other long tail keywords.
Add an individual post to each of the keywords.

It works for me all the time.

/%category%/%postname% will work great. You don't need the .html and I'm not sure why you'd want it anyway.

My advice is to use a static page for your homepage, contact page, and privacy policy page. Use posts for everything else.

Since this is a microniche you are setting up, you might not get any benefit from categories. All your posts may easily fit within one category.

In that case, just use /%postname%/ as your url.

Hi,
Yes, but I am targeting 3-4 longtail keywords and I may have 100 posts. As we know a single URL is the one that ranks in google, not website. I can’t optimize 100 URLs. I will still need a some Main page (category) for each keyword I’m trying to rank for. Thereafter, I will concentrate on optimizing this particular URL for the certain keyword, start backlinks building, etc... (including making internal links from all posts containing this keyword and grouped under this category).
Am I wrong?
