Personally I wouldn't use poker as any Adsense niche. Adsense & anything Gambling related don't mix, IMO. As far as video games, If you own the game & the audio I don't see why you wouldn't be able to monetize that niche. Be careful with the audio on some games since they might play music. The screencast I've done were open source software & my own voice for audio.

My CTR is holding steady at +9%, & jumps up to +12% about every couple of days. My advice is go back & turn that option ON, I'm very sure you'll see an increase in CTR as long as your video has any type of traffic. It's basically free PPV money.

Yukon, Let's say I make a walk through of a PC game, turn the audio off...that would be a legit video for AdSense earnings? For example... |

You also have to pick a niche that traffic will not close out the 30 second video Ads, the only way to do that is testing. I'm sure the majority of video game traffic is kids, kids are tech savy & might not watch the 30 second Ads, I don't know?
Repeat the above steps for any/all niches that your interested in making videos for. The golden rule for Youtube/Adsense is to own the audio/video. Personally I stay on the safe side, which means I leave nothing to chance, I know for a fact I have 100% rights to my own videos audio/video. I don't want to lead you down the wrong path & say it's ok to use a games video. I'm not saying the games are not ok, I'm saying I don't know.

Yukon my man, I understand what you're saying, I thought to do the same, open an account and test, see if Google allows me to place AdSense on my vids....a couple of questions if I may: 1) I think only after a video has reached a certain amount of views you get the chance to place AdSense, no? So even if I upload a video, it needs to reach a certain amount of views and only then maybe get the chance to add Adsense, right? 2) What is video response exactly? Can you please give me an example? 3) Not based in the US, hope I'll have the TruseView in-stream Ads, what do you think? Thanks man, appreciate it! |

1) I think I had maybe 10 videos & less than 10,000 views when I was sent an email from Youtube to monetize my videos with Adsense. Which 10k views is nothing compared to the amount of views you can get on a Youtube video. Back when I started that Youtube channel I didn't care about getting views, I uploaded a few short tutorials for my niche sites traffic. 2) If you want to do a video response do this (in this order):
The screenshot below is what a finished video response looks like (not my video, only an example of a video response): ![]() 3) I'm in the US so I can't answer that question. Pearsonbrown said he couldn't find the TrueView option, I think he is outside of the US, I'm not sure of his exact country/location.

Something else that I'm sure makes a difference as far as getting approved, this might be obvious, just thought I would point this out. ![]() Make sure the Youtube channel/account your posting videos on is the same Google account as your existing Adsense account. |

I wonder if America is the criteria for any new content can be atach adsense? If they are needed? 1. By adding more than 1,000 videos on the website 2. More than 10000 views chanell 3. You need 500 to 1,000 subscriber 4. You must have 3 to 5 rank your videos 5. No copyright material 6. You must have 50 - 100 videos

If I may add an observation. One of my accounts was authorized to be monitzed after maybe 2000 vews with roughly 20 original videos. I had two monetization options -> Enable Overlay in-video-ads, and Enable Trueview in stream ads. I just enabled the latter. This youtube account was tied to the same adsense account. I just added another youtube account, roughly the same statisics as above, to the SAME adsense account. Only the one monetization option was available, Enable Trueview in stream ads. No ads ran yet, but it may take a day until the account is authorized, ie the disclaimer that everything is original. I am from Canada, so we do have that option up here. An aside....I have another account, with only 2 videos, from a tv series that ran in 2001 - 2006. I uploaded 2 clips I thought were funny as I could not find them anywhere. Combined, they have 31,000+ views. I was offered monetization on this channel after 10000 or so views. Obviously, I did not take it. That tells me a computer makes the monetization decision, not a person. If I add orginal videos to this 3rd channel, I wonder if monetizing original videos jeoporadizes this channel, since non original content is hosted, but not monetized if that makes any sense? |

I do have one video on the same Youtube/Adsense channel that has a sample of an old song from the 60's, I don't monetize this specific video but it's still on my Youtube/Adsense channel & has been since before I was approved for monetizing my Youtube videos with Adsense. I don't do any video responses with my Adsense videos (original content) & that one non-original video. I've even considered taking down the non-original video... Like you said though, most of the contact between Adsense & Adsense publishers is automated software being triggered by certain events on the Google account. That's indeed how I was sent an email to my gmail account to see If I wanted to monetize my videos on Youtube. You just have to use common sense & not pay attention to everything that Google does. It's like all the emails I get (at least 1 per week) Adsense keeps telling me I can monetize more pages on my sites. Most pages have 2-3 Ads & that's more than enough, after 5 years of self testing. ![]() They don't want a site to look spammy & at the same time they tell us to max out Adsense Ads per page, lol.

This was an awesome thread. I knew that YouTube makes it easy to rank for somethings in search engines, but I had no idea that you could make so much from the ads.

Just wondering is there a minimum length that the video has to be? I'm not sure if I read at least 30 seconds or a minute.. Also do you think power point style videos with just information will work? |

As far as power point, I suppose it all depends on the info. remember images can be copyrighted so be careful with things like images & music. I keep saying this because it's really that important, If you don't own the audio/video, don't upload the video.

I got invited at the end of last year for this and I live in the UK so I can confirm it works here too. Also, my Adsense is in another Google account to my Youtube one. I didn't think it would work but it did, which surprised me. The trick is to making money is like what Yukon said, just keep pumping videos out and the more you got out, the more you'll make. Also, you don't have to wait for the the invite either, you can apply here. http://www.youtube.com/partners#utm_...ce=uk_ypp_bkws However, I would first build your channel, personalize it, and put about 10 to 20 videos that are getting views and subs everyday as Youtube are more inclined to approve you. Hope this helps! James Scholes |

I have a youtube account with around 13 videos and 1.5 millions total views, but the majority of them contain music and I don't want to put myself at risk of losing an adsense account over copyright issues (which is a shame because i could make easy cash of them). Good news is I'm about to launch my main project (an authority site) and make guide type videos for youtube will be a large part of the traffic source. I'm working with a professional camera guy/film producer so the videos will be high quality as well. I know the videos will generate A LOT of views so I'm excited to see how much revenue they can generate through the youtube ads. |

Yes, you have to wait until your Youtube account is approved for Adsense monetization, shouldn't take long after applying If you already have an Adsense account. Once your approved, each individual video on the Video Manger page in your Youtube Admin. will show a small green button to activate the Adsense Ads on the video.

This looks like a great way to get some extra Adsense earnings. I've just started posting videos to YouTube recently and wasn't aware of this, so I'm going to give this method a shot.

Yukon, Do you or your brother take time respond to comments? You moderate comments? Or do you just ignore that aspect of youtube and focus on making videos? |

. My brother has a lot more videos than I do so it's impossible for him to keep replying to comments since he only does this in his spare time. You could turn comments off If you wanted, I doubt it would have any impact on video views or Adsense earnings.

Another thing that might help. Inside your Adsense account, turn off Political & News Ads in the Ad Categories. Youtube is bad about showing Political Campaign Ads, which are probably the $0.02 Ads that your getting. Might help (can't hurt to test)? |

Great tip Yukon. My brother has many tens of thousands of subscribers to his channel, it was at one time one of the fastest growing technology channels on the entire network - that all changed though when the shows host changed and hasn't properly recovered ever since. Adding try-view can increase earnings a LOT as he learned in the infancy of his channel. YouTube is a great way to make KILLER passive income - the only issue is only a small percentage of people have the skills and balls to do it! I'd do it, but I have neither sadly ![]() Off-topic, but those video response girls are really starting to eff me off, usually enticing a click via showing a bit of cleavage. |

That is kinda crazy. If they don't want you to watch the ad, and they have the technology to know it is you viewing the video, you'd think they'd just skip it automatically.

Someone asked about finding which of your videos are working/making money. I have just recently noticed they are giving you a lot of information under Settings then find Analytics- mine are listed like this near the top. Video Manaager Video Editor Subscriptions Analytics Click on Analytics. Mine shows the top 10 videos and shows estimated earnings for those videos. REally cool, I have been waiting for this type of information. |

So the recommendation is to put a checkmark in both boxes. I thought it was either/or but when I did it, nothing happened to the other box, so I guess they can both be clicked. More opportunity for $$. I am in the automotive field and getting just over $5 a day with over 120 videos... Glad I found this, I hope it will bump me up. I wonder how many people click the ad because they are really interested or it is just in the way of watching the video! Todd

Well, two days after making the addition of trueview, I am happy to report a doubling of my daily income! Glad to have found this post for sure. Changing ALL videos to include this setting. I have poked around adsense and can confirm 1st/original post is true. Paid for view, do not watch your own videos/ad. Todd UPDATE! Changed over every video I have that is monetized. Over the last 2 days 6 TIMES increase in daily earnings. NOT in single digits anymore! I will ride the wave as long as it lasts. |
