How I Increased My Youtube/Adsense Income

The way TrueView in-stream ads work on Youtube videos is, most Ads play for 30 seconds, when someone watches the full video Ad it counts as a single Adsense click.

DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO ADS THAT PLAY BEFORE YOUR OWN VIDEOS!!

I've heard rumors on Youtube that they have banned people for watching their own TrueView in-stream ads, I have no idea If this is true since Adsense/Youtube hasn't said anything about it yet.

Just a heads up.

I have a few videos on Youtube that monetize with Adsense. My problem was I just don't have enough time in the day to keep creating new videos, I was lucky to get $0.50 per 3 videos, per day.

My brother also has videos on Youtube that he earns money with Adsense. I was talking to him about the video Ads that show up on Youtube videos before the video starts playing.

What I found out was, I'm now earning a little over $2 per day for 3 videos. That might not sound like much, but $2 x 365 days per year is $730 without doing a single bit of extra work. As long as it keeps generating at least $2 per day (looks good so far).

The option I turned on is Enable TrueView in-stream ads, you get to that option by following this path on your Youtube account.

Video Manager >> Green Monetize Button >> Monetize with Ads >> Enable TrueView in-stream ads.

It's easy recurring money.

Keep in mind you have to own 100% of all video/audio to be able to monetize your Youtube videos with Adsense.

It is crazy.

What you don't hear about is the rest of the guys earning decent passive income with Youtube/Adsense.

My brother is earning around $50 per day (very steady income) on Youtube with zero SEO, other than page titles, descriptions, tags, & video referrals. That's $18K per year.

Better than working a part-time job off-line.

Right now Youtube is one of the easiest ways to earn money online, especially If your good at editing video/audio. You don't need a website or do any type of SEO, besides the basic on-page things.

Youtube traffic is just massive!

They sent me an email & I followed the link (seriously that's all I did).

I started monetizing Youtube in 2011.

I had around 10K total video views when I was accepted. Have over 50K views now, without even trying.

I think it's getting easier to signup If you already have an Adsense account.

He creates very simple tutorials.

I think the key with Youtube is to stay focused on a single niche & keep pumping out videos until your just burnt out, lol. Youtube is a rare case in IM that more is better. The videos still need to be decent, but the more videos you keep pumping out, the more money you'll earn.

The subjects for creating Youtube videos are endless.

Example, even If there are 1,000+ videos on how to speed up pc, it doesn't matter, you'll still get thousands of views over the span of a year. Now create another 300+ 1min. videos on pc tips & the earnings will start adding up.

You'll still be getting paid years after your done creating videos.

The traffic is all self contained on Youtube with video responses. It's the easiest/largest source of free traffic I've ever found.

You have to own the rights to the audio & video to monetize Youtube videos with Adsense.

Seriously, do not even consider posting a video unless you own 100% of the audio/video. Even If you see someone else posting something they don't own, just don't do it.

The only audio my brother uses is voice overs from fiverr.

On my own videos I used a cheap microphone & Camtasia for screencast. Camtasia has noise reduction which works good for cheap microphones.

I know most of these types of sites data are bogus, but my brother tested his own channel on this site & he is mid way between the low & high $$ estimates.

Click on a few of these top 500 names then scroll down the page to look at their monthly estimates.

Again, I know the data isn't 100%, still it gives you an idea that Youtube is full of people earning very good incomes from Youtube traffic. You don't even need viral videos.

If it is by invitation only, do you have any suggestions as to the best way to try and get such an invitation?

To be honest that tool isn't even needed to get massive traffic. My brother gets around 10K-14K video views per day for all his videos combined (300+ videos) & doesn't use any keyword tools.

You can get tons of free traffic from video responses on high traffic videos that you don't own, it's seriously that easy to get traffic.

I have no idea how to get accepted besides the email that Youtube sent me.

I don't see any type of patterns from what others have said.

I had around 10 videos, I think maybe 10K video views (total), & very few subscribers before I was accepted.

All my videos were screencast tutorials with me speaking, nothing fancy.

Maybe they like tutorials, I don't know?

Thanks so much. I guess next step is to start posting some videos and see if I can get enough views to get invited. Does adsense work and pay the same way as on a regular website (by that I mean, certain keywords pay higher than others and the ad is targeted to the subject matter of the video) or is it just random?

Yes, it works the exact same way on both websites & Youtube as far as keywords.

Like I said before, I think it's almost impossible to over saturate a single niche on Youtube. People are looking for how-to information/videos & will watch multiple videos on the same subject.

All the information is already available on the net for free, just like the pc tips example, nobody owns the rights to that information, just do a screencast & use your own voice (never copy other videos).

Video game screencast are also popular on Youtube, I'm not into games but I see some huge view counts on those types of videos, so I know people like that type of info.

Looks like they discontinued the Youtube keyword tool.

It was working a month or so ago (last time I used it).

Like I said above, really you don't need a keyword tool. If you can make a video, chances are very high you'll get traffic via video responses.

Make a video, post it, & do a video response on a high traffic video that you don't own. That's the only way you'll know what's going to happen.

If your after the Adsense income on Youtube, it doesn't really have to be about your current niche sites, unless your trying to get traffic to those sites.

What I'm saying is, I don't see much point in moving traffic from Youtube to a niche site, since you can make the same money directly on Youtube with Adsense.

That leaves you wide open to thousands of possibilities, instead of a single niche outside of Youtube.

My advice is forget keywords & just make useful videos, it doesn't have to go viral or anything like that. Just keep pumping out short, useful videos. Youtube video responses will deliver the traffic regardless of what subject you pick, just keep it family friendly.

I was thinking about getting my bounce rates lower and time on site higher for websites by putting YT video on the site. You can get some clicks to it from site too, might be better CPC than usual AdSense.

BUT you have to get YT Partnership first, I think it will take quite some time to earn probably.

Really informative thread, I havnt tried monetizing youtube yet maybe its time I started. Its really a good source to earn a nice little cash flow. I just need an idea that can go viral, still waiting for that thought

Trust me, you don't need a viral video to earn money on Youtube (with Adsense), it would be nice, but it's seriously not necessary.

What you do is funnel the traffic from other videos that have millions of views & recent comments (very important, proves the traffic is still active on that specific video), via video responses.

Guys, I can't stress enough how easy the video responses generate traffic.

The only thing that's left is create decent short videos.

Everything else about generating traffic is overkill for Youtube. You don't need to rank in any search engine, or have a viral video (though it would help, still not needed), that's just doing things the hard way.

My brother is getting 10k-14k video views (total) per day, in less than 6 months from creating his first video. The only traffic he tries to generate is from video responses, so I know for a fact it works, I've seen his numbers.

Go after the easy traffic...

BTW, the only reason I'm saying any of this on a public forum is, there is no possible way that this entire forum could monetize all of Youtubes traffic. That traffic is massive & I'm sure it grows by the thousands each day. Also, the video niches/subjects are just endless, I don't think the possibilities will ever end with that type of traffic.

Nope, that's the part that sucks.

To have that data would be the equivalent of finding a goldmine.

You could test several niches one at a time by turning Ads on for a single video at a time, then run that Ad for a week & see how it converts. That would take a long time to do though.

I would suggest picking a niche that you can tolerate for a long time. You'll need a lot of videos.

Good post, I used this a few days ago, had a video generate about 20K views over 3 days, ran both ad formats. Did $100/day, $75, then $50 as the video died down. Back down to $10/day but still very happy. My goal is to reach $20-30/day before this year ends. Looking at a $400-600 paycheck this month.

I have to add though, you can seriously make a ton of money off youtube videos. You have one video that gets a million views, and you're making $1K/day easily.

Each video can only be a single video response at a time.

You can change which video response you want, as often as you want. You just can't have a single video with a video response on say 3 other videos at the exact same time.

Hope that made sense, lol, sounds like a tax form.

If your already monetizing your Youtube videos with your Adsense account, look at the screenshot I posted above & see If that option is in your Youtube video manager (green monetize button per video).

I have a question that interests me....

Let's say I've made a video where I recorded some great hands on online poker

sites and I upload it. I just saw videos of poker hands from a specific online poker room and it had AdSense ads on it.

Does it mean that the guy who uploaded the video gets some of the AdSense earnings? Or is a violation of copyrights from that specific online poker room? Do you understand my questions guys?

Same goes for a Walk through of a PC games let's say - is it considered original or violation of the game's copyright and I don't get money from the AdSense ad on that video?
